12th Annual NHSCA Pre-Season High School Nationals
With the start of the season almost near, you High School wrestlers need to start hitting some tournaments. Some of you went down to Super 32, but not enough of you. Some of you have entered other tournaments, but not enough. Although we are proud of everyone's efforts and committment to coming into the room and training hard, please for your sake, get in as many tournaments as you can before the season. Be prepared, set your goals, and do not turn back now. If you are having second thoughts, this is the time to back out.
The 12th Annual Pre-Season National Championships are being heald at Pleasant Valley High School in Broadheadsville, PA on November 14, 2009. Please make it a point to get out there to this tough preseason tournament to see where you guy are at this point in the preseason. Most of you have been going hard all summer, and this would be a good gauge to see what things still need to be corrected.
For registration information, click on the headline of this post, it is a link to the registration site for the tournament. This is also a Team Tournament and we would love to have a solid group out in PA to represent Team Scorpion Wrestling. If there are any questions about this, feel free to email me at scorpionsinfo@aol.com.
TEAM SCORPION WRESTLERS CHALLENGING FOR THE SUPER 32 CHALLENGE BATTLE FOR THE BELT
The Super 32 Challenge-Battle for the Belt is one of, if not, the biggest, preaseason national tournament for high school wrestlers.
The best of the best all gather in Greensboro, North Carolina to challenge themselves and see, where they stand on the national scene, prior to the wrestling season.
With only about a month away until the High School wrestling season, some of our boys have taken the challenge to participate in what is becoming one of the most prestigious High School National Tournaments in the country, the Super 32 Challenge Battle for the Belt.
Good Luck to Team Scorpion member Andrew Polidore (Queen of Peace High School Dist. & Reg. Champion and State Qualifier) who is out in Greensboro, challenging for a Super 32 belt. SCORPION HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLERS BREAKING INTO NATIONAL RANKINGS!!!!
Although the NJ High School season has not started yet, let alone any wrestling season, our boys are starting to open up some eyes on the national scene. Wrestling USA Magazine, USA's #1 Source for Wrestling, has released it's High School National Rankings for the Best High School wrestler of the upcoming 2009-2010 season by grade.
We are extremely excited and proud to have two wrestlers break into the HS national rankings this year, Perth Amboy Senior, Heriberto Quintana ranked #15 and Queen of Peace Sophmore, Pelal Deeb ranked #8.
Heriberto "Berto" Quintana, broke into his first Best HS Seniors national rankings. Ranked #15 @ 112lbs, for 2009-2010 HS Seniors, Berto finished off one of, if not, his best high school wrestling season. Berto finished off his Junior season with Perth Amboy finishing 1st in his district, 2nd in his region and an outstanding 3rd place finish at the NJ State Finals in Atlantic City at 112lbs. Berto could be returning this season at 112lbs and would be the overall favorite to take the title this year if he does.
Pelal Deeb, although going through one of his toughest years his freshman year, not wrestling many matches, has also broken into the Best Freshman/Sophmores national rankings, #8 @ 140lbs. Pelal broke into the national rankings after participating in the prestigous National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Freshman Nationals this past March. Pelal won the 130lb Freshman National Title and became a High School All-American.
Also breaking into the Senior national rankings is Queen of Peace wrestler, Jaime Westwood. Jaime was acknowledged as a Special Mention in the 171lb weight class. Jaime finished off a great Junior season with the Golden Griffins placing at the NJ State Finals as well placing in the NHSCA Junior Nationals and becoming an NHSCA High School All-American.
We want to congratulate the boys for their outstanding accomplishments and the hard work that they have put in to be nationally recognized. Congratulations boys from your second family, Team Scorpion Wrestling.
