The NJ Fury (Furies)  . . . who we are and how we roll

The NJ Fury began in 1993 as the Fair Haven Fury (14U).  The team was formed to help develop and prepare Fair Haven girls to play at the varsity HS level.  Over the years as we (and our reputation) grew, we attracted players from our surrounding communities.  Today we have 12U - 14U - 16U & 18U teams and players from Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

We've competed in ASA, FAST, ISA, NSA, PONY, TRIPLE CROWN & USSSA tournaments over the past 16 years and attended the FAST and PONY National Tournaments for the past 6 years.  (Our best National finish was achieved by our 16U team in 2005, tied in 17th place).  This year we expect our teams to top that mark.

Our girls have played against some of the best teams in the east (south and midwest) . . . we lose some - but overall we win more than we lose.  Our goal is that our girls are the best . . . on and off the field.  We believe for players to be their best, they need to compete against the best!

The Fury name was adopted by our team over 16 years ago, the "Furies" were ancient Greek and Roman goddess spirits, daughters of Mother Earth. They were powerful divinities and ferocious defenders of family members who are wronged or injured. We intended our name to be symbolic and representative of our furyous and relenteless game play. As "furies" we inspire to be defenders of what is good and right in and outside of softball. In competition we are unrelenting, and we leave it all on the field.

We respect officials and opponents. We are merciful to those less accomplished. We fear no one, yet take no one for granted. We love and respect our family members, both those with whom we play and those to whom we were born. We love our sport and try to be positive role models and always to behave like the beautiful and talented young ladies we truly are. We are good students, who know that our education is nourishment for living a happy life. We do not belittle others to make ourselves feel better, as we only diminish our own beauty and power by doing so. We are humbled in the talents in which we are blessed and thankful to God for having been given them.

We know that to be the best we must continually compete to defeat all opponents. We do not boast of our ability, but we show it. We are armored with the "ATTITUDE" of confidence, shielded by our teammates "BELIEF" in one another and empowered by the hours of PRACTICE and PREPARATION and in the SACRIFICE we make for ourselves and our team.

When we stumble or fall short, we don't get down, make excuses or seek blame. We become more focused and dedicated to work harder to achieve both our team and individual goals. As members of the Fury, we dedicate ourselves and our efforts to the defense, welfare and glory of our team family. Our motto is "Faith, Family and Fury"! Even though we may not always like each other or get along off the field - we never let anyone outside our tribe ever harm or put a teammate down . . . and on the field we are always one, always team . . . and forever FURYOUS!
