To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the “Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports” initiative to offer information about concussions—a type of traumatic brain injury—to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The “Heads Up” initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.

USA Football is an independent non-profit organization leading the development of youth, high school, and international amateur football endowed by the NFL and NFL Players Association in 2002.
USA Football Coaching Membership includes many valuable benefits including Coaching Insurance. It also gives coaches access to online resources including: Coaching Education and Certification, a Drills Library, a Practice Planner and a Click 'n' Create Playbook.

The NFL and the National Football Foundation have teamed to elevate the quality of coaching at the youth and high school levels with the Coaching Academy Playbook. The curriculum stresses the game's social benefits and character-building attributes, as well as the Xs and Os of football.

In collaboration with leading national health organizations, the NFL has launched PLAY SAFE!, a unique youth football education series designed to provide coaches, players, and parents with user-friendly, football-specific health and safety information. This four-part series includes comprehensive information on first aid, nutrition, strength and conditioning, and psychological health.
