John "Chick" Choka

Mr. Little League  

WMLL was proud to have Chick Choka throw out the first pitch to open 2008 Majors Double Elimination tournament play at Hillcrest Field.

Chick served our country in WWII, and began volunteering his time as a Little League coach for Wayne LL in 1959. In 1967 he was elected League president, but became known as the Director of Wayne LL—a position he still holds today.

Under Chick's watch, Wayne LL became Little League World Series Champions in 1970.This is something Chick is very proud of and will never forget.

Over the years Chick has served as Umpire-in-Chief, ADA, and presently holds the position of Senior ADA of NJ District 2 Little League Baseball and Softball.

At the age of 84 Chick is still involved in Little League, although not as heavily as in earlier years. His love for Little League Baseball keeps him going and he is enjoying every minute of it.

Chick has said he "hopes to be around a few more years and continue watching the enjoyment of the kids playing Little League Baseball."
