The folowing message was sent to all District Administrators on May 5:
As a result of the voting conducted online following the conclusion of the recent Region Round Tables Series, the Little League International Board of Directors has voted to support the creation of a new division of Little League Baseball that will service players league-age 11-to-13.
This new division will be offered for the 2013 regular season, and will provide postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series. The Operations Department at Little League International is currently preparing rules and regulations for regular season and tournament play.
Local Little Leagues will have the option to charter baseball teams in the Major Division, the 11-to-13 Division, or both.
More information on this new division of Little League Baseball is forthcoming.
Little League International wishes to thank all of the leagues who participated in the 50-70 Pilot Program over the past two seasons, as well as volunteer district administrators, their volunteer staffs and the local leagues for providing input and opinions through the series of Regional Round Tables conducted in recent months.
