Game 6

The bats were alive today.  We put put up crooked numbers in each of the first 4 innings building a 10-2 lead after 2 1/2 and then settling in to a 13-6 lead after 3 1/2 which became the final score.    We held the opponent scorelss for the final 3 innings.  Great pitching and great offensive production.  We still need to fine tune our defense to try to avoid giving away runs to the opponents that they don't earn with their bats.  I will address these issues in future practices.

A shout out goes to Chris, Mitchell and Julian for there mulitiple hit and/or multiple RBI performances.  Aniket get credit for the at bat of the game as he spolied many a third strike to work a walk and keep our second inning alive where we score 4 runs and took the lead for good.  And we can't forget Tom and Connor, who's stellar pitching clamped the door on the NY Spine for the second half of the game.

Next game Monday against 1st place Spataro Insurance.  Get there as early as you can to get loose.

Wednesday, May 7
Game 5

Well we know how to make it interesting.

On a night where our bats truly came alive vs some quality pitching our defense nearly let us down in the last inning.  But we perservered and got the final out in a rundown to seal the game.  Always remember boys, every play counts.  We made enough tonight to earn the win.

Kudos go out to Connor Andrews for his three hit performance including a double and a triple.  And commendations should also go to Conor Ray and Chris Brown for driving in two runs a piece.  Next up this Saturday is New York Spine,  Let's show up an hour before the game start to get some extra work in and go over some game sitiationals.

See everybody at 2:00 on Saturday.

Monday, May 5
Game 4

Solid effort today guys.  Despite the less than ideal conditions we played a solid game and really seemed able to put the ball in play.  Conor Ray deserves mention for his 3 hit performance which included a double.   Tommy Favata had 4 rib's and pitched a perfect 6th inning to close the game out.  Mitchell Dame did a great job relieving in a base loaded no-out-sitiuation, allowing only minimal runs to score.   Julian also chipped in with 3 hits and Brandon Fine held Marios scoreless in the first two innings with help of our first double play of the year, started by him, a beautiful 1-2-3 DP, Chris Brown providing the pivot.

Next up, Niskayuna Teachers, Tuesday evening.  See everybody there.

Monday, April 28
Game 2

Our second game didnt find us so lucky.  Again we had strong pitching performances from Brandon and Connor and the season debut's from Julian and Mitchell were solid.  A few more plays made here and there in the field and we would have held Orthodontists to maybe 1 or 2 runs.   The big story of the night was our lackluster offense.  Although the strike zone was larger than usual we needed to get the bats off of our shoulders and make the adjustments to what the umpirew was calling.   Particulary with runners on 3rd base.    Looking to rebound against Mohawk Army Navy on Wednesday.  Bring your big sticks, I plan on shaking up the batting order to see what fortune that may bring us.

Friday, April 25
Great opener

Way to start the season boys!!  Our first game was nip and tuck from the beginning, we had an early lead and then fell behind by two runs but battled back to score 1 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to come away with the victory.  A well played game by both teams.  Chris B, with two hits (one a triple), drove in our first two runs of the game.  He plated Tom F in the 2nd inning and Mitchell D, who had doubled, in the 5th.  Our 2 run sixth inning was started off by a beautiful bunt by Aniket T right down the 3rd baseline.  Later, after we had gotten our lead runner thrown out at the plate on a nice play by their SS, we were able to sneak the tying run home on a wild pitch (nice speed displayed by Michael Landry).  With one out and a runner on third, Connor Andrews was able to scorch the ball just past the shortstop to score Julian with what proved to be the winning run.

Our pitching was strong, if not completey steady.  Kudos go out to Brandon who recovered from walking the bases loaded in the second inning by striking out the side 1-2-3.  Christian K and Tom each pitched well in there season debut's as well (Tom's appearance was his majors debut).   But the performance of the night went to Connor Andrews, who pitched lights out in the 5th and 6th innings.   He sealed the game for us by striking out 6 of the 8 batters he faced,  allowing only one hit and walking none.  A truly sensational effort.

Next up is Deluke Orthodontrics, Saturday at 5:45.
