Niskayuna Baseball Ltd.: Playing Levels
Niskayuna Baseball Ltd.

Select Season:
Niskayuna T-Ball
- For 4 and 5-year-olds.
- Rosters are set to combine players that attend (or will) the same Kindergarten school.
- Players bat around each inning.
- The ball used is a soft-tee ball.
- The league is non-competitive; no scores are kept.
- All games are played on Saturdays, although make-up games may be scheduled on weeknights.
- Each game is kept to a one-hour time limit or three innings (whichever comes first) to match game span with attention span of the age group.
- Coaches will try to rotate players through various positions, emphasizing position play, but safety is a priority.
- Practice should focus on catching and throwing the ball, playing positions, and swinging the bat. Teams are encouraged to introduce hitting a pitched ball (as appropriate) during early-season practice. Players that consistently hit the ball within 2 - 3 pitches may bat Single-A-style during T-Ball games.

- For 6 and 7-year-olds
- Mechanized pitching machines or coach pitch from one knee to batters from a distance of approximately 35 feet.
- All players are placed in the batting rotation and up to five outfielders play the field (nobody sits out).
- Outs are recorded in the field. The batting team is retired after three putouts.
- Batter receives maximum of six pitches (not counting two-strike foul balls). Players hit the ball into play within six pitches. After the 6th pitch batter hits from tee. There are no walks.
- Ball is a soft-tee ball.
- Field is a 60ft base path field (e.g., Field#2).
- Non-competitive; no scores or standings kept.
- Typically one Saturday and one weeknight game per week.
- Each game is kept to a 90-minute time limit or five innings (whichever comes first).
- Coaches will try to rotate players through various positions, but safety is a priority (catcher’s position is introduced).
- Practice emphasizes development of defensive skills and continuing development of hitting.

Niskayuna Double A
- For 8 and 9-year-olds.
- 9 year-olds will be offered an opportunity to try out for Triple A. Those who register for a Triple-A tryout but are not selected to a Triple-A team will be placed on a Double-A team.
- Rosters are assembled with parity in mind combining players from multiple elementary schools.
- This is the first division where the players pitch. No walks (coach pitch after four ball count).
- All players are placed in the batting rotation, although only 10 will be in the field at one time.
- Outs are recorded in the field and three strikes is an out. The batting team is retired after three outs.
