Nippersink Baseball Association: Welcome
|
>Jan 2010-- The Nippersink Pony League will be posting "all" the new changes voted in by the Community Director's during the October 2009 mid by mid February 2010. Early highlights include; The new season will allow for "drafted and non-drafted teams" to participate among their selected levels of talent, as well as the ability for schedules to be adjusted to accomodate players school and practice schedules. We anticipate 20 - 24 teams to compete in the 2010 Nippersink Pony League and with additional rule adjustments designed to enhance player development and team competitiveness, helping each player be more prepared for High School Baseball which is our goal.
Other recent changes....including explaination of recent league structure changes
During the Fall of 2009, one of our long standing and founding league members decided that their teams have not been as competetive as they would have liked to be over the passed several seasons, and felt that their overall record at seasons end, along with their annual level of talent, did not match up well to the Nippersink's current team skill levels, or structure, over the past several years. It was then that they decided to reach out to other similar communities within Nippersink league that seemed to be experiencing the same results, and suggested that if they "pooled" their groups of kids together into thier own smaller league, possibly they could help address their immediate needs and concerns. This was also done with the intent that they could then play within a league that would be less competetive, allow much fewer season games, and could be viewed more as an "instructional" expeirence such as an "in house", or a "recreational" league. We would like to wish Spring Grove/Richmond, Hebron, Johnsburg, Wonder Lake, and Fox Lake, the very best as they move forward on their new endeavor. And we'd like to thank them for all they have done over the years and wish them the very best for years to come!
As we move forward, with your countinued feedback...we will continue to try and identify where teams should be equally and fairly matched up and structured within divisions as we have in the past. It is also within our best interest to properly educate new parents and coaches of the changes that are associated at this level. This in turn will help the players ultimately grow their game within higher levels of competition.

>The 2010 Nippersink Pony League is a 13-14U coed league comprised of teams from communities located in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Current member communities include Antioch, Genoa City, Lake Villa, and Woodstock. These communities involved have been deeply commited to providing well balanced and talented teams over the past several seasons. The season begins in April and continues through June. Playoffs follow the regular season. All-Star games are also played at a specific site, on one weekend day during mid-season between selected teams. Equal numbers of players are selected from each team by their peer players. For further details, please stay tuned to this website and view updates as they are posted. Please also feel free to view the specific links of current member communities if you are interested in participating. All website members must follow website membership rules. If you are serious about playing within a league that hosts players with elevated talents only, this league is for you. If you are coming from a league of 12 yr old players, and because Pony baseball is a "giant" step forward from Little League, we request that you fully research this next level of baseball before you make the commitment to play in a higher level league. If you're seriously interested in elevating your players level of talent and you intend to commit to High School baseball when your player becomes a Freshman, then this league is for you.

Thursday, February 4
Listed below are the notes from the Feb 3rd 2010 Mtg. Great job by all and thanks for the feedback! Please send in your team info as soon as you have it and we will begin loading teams into Divisions! Thanks!
MTG NOTES
HI Guys, i think we got a lot accomplished last night, and the upcoming season looks like it will be a lot of fun.
Notes: Lake Villa will most likely have 10 teams, and they will be in their own division (National). Antioch will have 3 teams; Genoa City, 4 teams; Wauconda, 1 team and possibly another, WSTK, 1 team and possibly another. These 9-11 teams will make up the American Division.
Each town should send David Aschermann their field availability as soon as the information is known. A questionnaire is attached to this email. Total games: 26 (most likely 18 divisional and 8 inter-divisional). Records will only count within the division.
Playoff system: All teams will be eligible to enter the playoffs. Assuming there are 10 teams in each division, the bottom 4 teams would compete in a "play-in" game (eg, 7 vs. 10, 8 vs. 9), and then the top 8 teams from each division would play tournament style (ie, 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, etc...). The winner of each division would play in a final World Series game for league champ.
Season Dates: March 18: initial coaches meeting to discuss rules, conduct, etc. (MVP)
April 7: 2nd coaches meeting/mixer. Review schedules, rules, etc. (GC, Fellows) April 16: Season begins
May 15: All star game in GC (ALSO Armed Forces Day) 4-6 teams
June 13: Regular season ends
June 14-17: Make up week (games can only be scheduled during this week after June 1)
June 18-20: Nippersink Tournament at LV ("Friendly" tournament for any team that wants to participate before the playoffs). Pitching limited to 2 innings/game; game times 1h 50 min. Details to come
June 21: Play-in games; playoffs begin
June 26: Divisional Finals
June 27: World Series
