Guidelines

  • Although each student-athlete is responsible for the cost of hosting and their trip to Japan, group-driven fundraising opportunities can help with the costs.
  • All monies raised will be held in trust by NIFEE
  • All student-athletes and their parents are required to sign a Participation Agreement and pay a non-refundable deposit to show commitment and a willingness to participate fully in this experience.
  • All student-athletes and their families agree to host two Japanese students in their home the first year of the exchange, depending on the size of the Japanese continent.
  • The exchange operates on a three-year cycle - Year 1 we host our Japanese counterparts for a period of 10 days to 2 weeks;  year 2 we travel to Japan for the same amount of time; Year 3 is an organization period.
  • There may be an opportunity at the beginning of the Japanese leg of the exchange to spend a few days in Tokyo before traveling to Nagaoka.
  • Only student-athletes displaying high standards, responsibility and leadership will be selected to participate in view of their role as ambassador during the exchange.  NIFEE reserves the right to terminate participation any time during the course of the exchange should behaviour be deemed detrimental to the organization.
