: Snapper News: Snappers Feel The Fury, Step On The Pepp

The Niagara Snappers returned from the World Tournament in Wisconsin to resume their GHFL schedule Tuesday night taking on the Niagara Falls Fury and the St. Catharines RHCP. 

Jamie Simpson took the ball for Niagara in game #1 against Fury ace Scott Wagar.  The 2 teams were locked in a 1-1 tie until the 5th inning when the Fury managed to plate 2 runs and take a 3-1 lead.  That lead would stand up for the rest of the game as the Fury handed Niagara its 3rd loss against 10 wins in GHFL play.  Peter Dobbin, Trevor Falk and Todd Dawdy all had hits for Niagara.  Simpson took the loss on the mound giving up all 3 runs on 7 hits and striking out 9 along the way. 

Game #2 saw the Snappers facing RHCP and former Niagara hurler Dan "The Wiz" Duemo.  Byron Demoe countered on the mound for Niagara.  After being held to 3 hits in game #1, the Snappers offense didn't waste any time, scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning en route to a 9-2 win.  Byron Demoe picked up the win going 4 innings and striking out 6 along the way.  Jason Paylove pitched the final inning in relief.  The offense was led by Peter Dobbin who slammed his 2nd home run of the year and had 3 RBI's.  Trevor Falk chipped in with a pair of hit while Jarrod Burtt, Todd Dawdy, Kevin Newhouse and Dean Carr all chipped had RBI's.

The win leaves the Snappers with a 11-3-3 record in GHFL play.  Next action for Niagara is on Friday August 22nd as the team will travel to Milgrove, ON to take on the Waterdown Razorbacks in the early game and finish the night off against the Waterdown Target.
