: Snapper News: Snappers Split 2
Wednesday, July 16Snappers Split 2
The Niagara Snappers took on the Wyevale Tribe in an ISC Travel League doubleheader at Lancaster Park coming away with a split in the 2 games.
Game #1 saw Dan Duemo return to the mound for the Snappers. The Tribe came out stinging the ball as they broke open a 3-3 tie in the top of the 7th with a 2 run home run and went on to win the game 5-3. The Snappers had their shot in the bottom of the 7th with 2 on and nobody out but could not score a run. Adam Dearborn smashed a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st to put the Snappers on top and Dan Bernard went 2-3 with 2 RBI's to pace the offense.
In the nightcap, the Snapper's defence and their bats woke up as they came back to mercy Wyevale in 5 innings by a 6-0 score. Byron Demoe started for the Snappers and struck out the side in the 1st and 2nd innings en route to a 4 inning performace with 9 strikeouts and 2 hits allowed. The offense was spread around as the Snapper capitalized on Wyevale's starter Jason Giffen's inconsistency on the mound. Giffen, although striking out 10 in 5 innings, also allowed 5 walks which came back to haunt him. Todd Dawdy hit a solo home run and Adam Dearborn, Scott Young and Dan Bernard all chipped in with RBI's. N
Next action for the Snappers is another doubleheader at Lancaster park on Thursday July 17th. Game times are 7pm and 9pm and their opponent will be the Palermo Athletics. This will be an ISC Travel League doubleheader as the Snappers are close to finishing off their Travel League schedule and will be hosting the year end tournament at Lancaster park on Saturday July 26th and 27th.
