16U Tsunami: TSUNAMI Creed
Sunday, January 27Tsunami Creed, 2009
1. Hold your team in highest regard. Respect yourself and the team you represent. Treat everyone with respect and dignity. Present yourself with pride, dignity, and respect.
2. Pay attention to the coach and follow his instructions.
3. Emphasis on team. Primary function is to produce a team result.
4. Support your team, teammates, and coaches.
5. No disruption, horseplay, or juvenile behavior. Only serious softball “between the fences.” Hustle all the time.
6. No eating in the dugout, during practice or games (healthy snack bars and drinks ok).
7. Be on time, prepared, and ready to practice (equipment, dress, hydration).
8. Eat properly, especially before practice and games.
9. Dialogue between team members and officials only during games (no parent-player dialogue or talking with people outside the game).
10. Players and coaches must stay in the dugout or on the field during games.
11. A player should express any concerns to a coach. Parents should also feel free to discuss concerns. A player’s concern should come from the player first.
12. Team practices develop the functionality of the team, which includes individual development. Proficiency requires training. Individual development requires individual commitment, preparation, and practice. Specialized skill elements require additional individual practice. All position development, skill development, and higher proficiency benefit from additional practice which can be accomplished on their own. Player development is maximized according to the commitment and time put into it.
13. Tsunami will demonstrate sportsmanship and respect for the game, officials, coaches, opponents, and fans at all times. This includes ethical behavior and conduct.
14. All activities will incorporate best practices for safety.
- helmets or glove on anytime a ball is thrown nearby
- alert and attentive for balls and activity
15. Players focus should be on the game (or on practice).
16. Players play (execute), Coaches coach (direct), Officials officiate (referee).
Did I help my teammate get that college coach’s attention? or….Did I ruin my teammate’s chance at being recruited because of my behavior? And… Was that guy in the shorts really a college coach?(i.e. What was I doing when I should have been on my best behavior?)
