Charlie Blackmon (Class of 2004) enjoyed another great year in the Colorado Rockies farm system in 2009. Blackmon hit .307 this season with 34 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, and 69 RBI . Charlie spent the year in Modesto in the California League (High A). Blackmon is still regarded as a top outfield prospect in the Rockies organization.
Blake Wood (Class of 2003) has battled some injuries this season as he was 2-8 with a 5.83 ERA , as a pitcher with the Kansas City Royals AA club Northwest Arkansas. According to reliable sources though, Wood has been invited to the KC Instructional Fall League.
Danny Sawyer (Class of 2003) had a solid year behind the plate in the Frontier League ((Independent) with the River City Rascals. After a trade from Windy City to River City, Sawyer has hit .239 with nine doubles, nine home runs, and 28 RBI. As of 9/18/09, the Rascals were playing in the Frontier league Championship series. The Bulldogs are looking for Sawyer to return to the coaching staff in 2010.
