FANTASTIC FALL

11/10/2009

We have just completed another successful North Metro Diamond Extravaganza. This year we had representation  from UGA, GA. Southern, GA State, Keneesaw State, North Georgia, Valdosta State, USC-Aiken, Gordon College, Young Harris, Andrew College, Perimeter College, South GA College, Pensecola JUCO, the Atlanta Braves, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Thanks to all who attended the workday on 11/1, and thanks to all who helped on Saturday and Sunday.

We have had a very productive fall in the weightroom. The kids who have participated have really shown great improvement. We will focus on increasing our strength over the next few weeks before gearing up for February.

The Car Raffle was the best ever , as we eclipsed $5000 in sales. Thanks to all who helped. Edward Konguee, Matt DeWilde, and Brian Breslin were the top three sellers, and will receive a reward.

The end of the semester is in sight. We need to make sure our grades are in good shape, as we have no recourse (summer school, on-line recovery) if we fail more than one course.

Thanks again to all who help to make this program one of the best!! FV

8/19/2009

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! It seems only yesterday the we were thinking about the transition to the 21st century and Y2K! Wow...that was 10 years ago. We are excited about our prospects for the 2010 season. We had an excellent summer in which the kids got a lot of reps. We saw some players improve and (we think) have found some answers to many of the questions we had as the 2009 year ended. Our numbers are up, and the competition for the 2010 season will be stiff.

A few things I want to emphasize this early in the school year.

1) We need to get off to a good start in the classroom. I really do not need to go into much detail with that. It is important. I will be sending out a list of our returning players to the teachers this week. Hopefully they will alert us if anyone is needing help, etc...

2) We have begun our off-season conditioning program. It is open to all who want to participate and it is 100% voluntary. We do believe that this program will be a great benefit to our players and our program if followed. All students must have a valid physical ON FILE, in order to participate. We will meet daily afterschool.

3) We have issued Raffle Tickets for the North Gwinnett Car Raffle. Craig Cappy from  Mall of Georgia Chrysler Dodge Jeep, has graciously donated a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser. We issued 15 tickets to each returning player. The tickets are $10 each and the players are responsible for the sale/return of all tickets. This fundraiser is a 100% return. We keep whatever we sell. We fell short last season with some of our fund-raising, so this would be a great start to the new year if we could sell all of the cards we issued.  We want the players to return the money and tickets by September 7. There will be a cash prize for the highest sellers.

4) The 2009 North Metro Diamond Extravaganza Instructional Showcase is set for Saturday, Novemeber 7 and Sunday November 8. Saturday is scheduled for underclassmen and Sunday is set aside for seniors. The cost is $125. Any players from North can check with the Dugout Club for rates.

I will try to keep a better handle on this space to keep everyone informed. We are looking forward to a great 09-10 school year/baseball season. Thanks in advance for all you do to support North Gwinnett Bulldog Baseball!!
