North Forsyth Little League: Spring 2012 Divisions

Tee Ball
Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls 4-6 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. Generally, the diamond used is a 60-foot diamond, but the league has the option to use a 50-foot diamond.

Pee Wee
Pee Wee League Baseball is for boys and girls 7-8 years of age with 1 year experience in Tee Ball. In Pee Wee, playes hit a ball from machine pitch. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.

Minor
Minor League Baseball is for boys and girls age 9-10. The minor league is "player pitch." division. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.

Major
The Little League Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 11-12. A local league may choose to limit its Major Division to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds, or 11-12-year-olds. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team may enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League Baseball.

Jr/Sr
Jr / Sr division is for boys 12-16 years old with 3 to 6 years of baseball experience. Player pitch. Emphasis continues to be on refinement of skills and advanced strategies. Base stealing is permitted. Provide as many opportunities (positions and innings) as possible for each player. Very Competitive.

Girls Softball 7-8 (Coach Pitch Division)
By local option, a player who is league age 7 for the current season and has played a year in Tee Ball may be "moved up" to a coach pitch division.

Girls Softball 9-10 (Minor Division)
Girls softball Minor division is for 9-10 year old girls who have 0 to 2 years of softball/baseball experience. The emphasis is on basic skills and the development of those skills. Coach pitch. Base stealing is not permitted. Provide as many opportunities (positions and innings) as possible for each player.

Girls Softball 11-12 (Major Division)
Girls softball major division is for 11-12 year old girls with 2 to 3 years of softball/baseball experience. Player pitch. Emphasis is on refinement of skills and advanced strategies. Base stealing is permitted. Provide as many opportunities (positions and innings) as possible for each player. Very Competitive.

Girls Softball 16-Under (Jr Division)
Girls softball Jr division is for 13-16 year old girls with 3 to 6 years of softball/baseball experience. Player pitch. Emphasis continues to be on refinement of skills and advanced strategies. Base stealing is permitted. Provide as many opportunities (positions and innings) as possible for each player. Very Competitive.
