NFL Cheer
NFL Cheer is comprised of girls ages 5-14 and will cheer for NFL Flag Football of Rockford. There are no tryouts, all cheerleaders cheer; therefore, squads may be of differing abilities. All cheerleaders are coached by a volunteer and a high school cheerleader mentor. The purpose of NFL Cheer is to develop, organize, and promote cheerleading activities for our youth participants. NFL Cheer will also encourage good sportsmanship and fun for all our participants.
Program Description:Each NFL Cheer squad is assigned a parent supervisor and a high school cheerleading/dance mentor. The mentors primarily job is to teach the cheer routines. Some of the girls in each group may have more trouble than others picking up the routine. Each mentor would be assigned to teach a group of 6-8 girls’ routines to be preformed during NFL Flag Football games on Saturday mornings. Some mentors may be assigned two squads.
Practice Locations:NFL Cheer meets every Monday and Thursday behind East High School for practice 5:30pm - 6:30.
Games Location:All NFL Flag Football games are held at Brown Park on N. Main and Custer Ave. Games start at 8:30 each Saturday and the last game may end as late as 1:30pm. All games last 45 minutes.
Fourth of July Parade
NFL Flag/Cheer will participate in the 2008 Rockford Fourth of July parade. All participates MUST be in game day attire. Parents are allowed to particpate, but must be in NFL attire, ex; jerseys, NFL Flag t-shirt, or NFL gear. We will meet on 6th Ave. east of 7th St. at 6pm. Parents will need to pick their children up at W.A. Whitley on S. Main. (3 blocks south of Davis Park) when OUR unit passes you, not when the parade ends. If your team or squard would like to decorate a vehicle, please see Lamont ASAP.
If your child can not walk long distances this may not be the event for them. Throwing of candy or any objects of any kind is not allowed.
