Fall Program Information

N.E.L.L. is committed to providing opportunities for kids to continue enjoying the game and developing their baseball skills throughout the fall season.

Fall Programs:

The N.E.L.L. Fall Baseball programs are competitive programs with opponents with other Newton Little Leagues as well as Needham, Belmont, Brookline, Waltham and Weston. Beginning in early September, two games per week are played (one weekday and one on Sunday) for six weeks. The fall programs are extremely important for players’ development, since they are more or less the equivalent of another spring season of experience. For purposes of the fall league, participants must be age eligible for the 2010 Little League Spring Season (see table below). Each League is responsible for recruiting and registering their own team(s) and must provide a Little League Field and Umpires for games played at that field.  The Cost of the Fall program is $100 and the application is due by August 10, 2009.  Applications received after August 10th are subject to a $15 late fee and placement is not guaranteed.

Major Division Program – Consists of players who were members of a Major Division team in the spring of 2009 and will be eligible for the 2010 Little League Spring Season.  Additionally, all league age 12 year olds will be placed onto Major league rosters to ready them for the Spring 2010 season (unless a waiver is granted).  10 and 11 year old players that have yet to play a Spring Major League Season should not register for this program.

  • Note: If roster space permits, a limited number of players (ages 11 and 10) from AAA teams may be considered strictly by invitation only and at the discretion of the League Commissioner and Majors Division Coordinator.  Please note that this does not guarantee that these players will be drafted by a Major League team the following spring.  Players meeting this criteria should still register for the Minor Division Program.

Minor AAA Division Program – Consists of players who were members of a AAA Minor Division team in the spring of 2009 and will remain eligible for the 2010 Little League Spring Minor League Season.  While Spring 2009 AA players are also eligible (those entering AA for the first time in Spring 2010 are not eligible), this league is played at a reasonably high AAA level and is recommended for AA players with more developed baseball skills and experience.  Farm League players are not eligible for Fall Minor AAA Division play.  Players are combined on fall teams, based on the number of registrants. AAA rules are used.

Minor AA Division Program (NEW FOR 2010) – Consists of players who were members of a AA Minor Division team in the spring of 2009 and will remain eligible for the 2010 Little League Spring Minor League Season.  Farm League players entering 3rd grade are eligible for Fall Minor Division play provided they have some level of "kid pitch" experience (such as playing in the summer 7-9 year old league run by Newton West) and/or coach recommendation (commissioner's decision is final).  Players are combined on fall teams, based on the number of registrants. AA rules are used.

Registration:
Registration is online this year at registration.newtoneastll.org. Please realize that because we try to balance the teams as best possible we cannot generally honor requests for kids to be together. If you have any questions regarding registration (or need a paper application or 12 year old waiver form to play in minor league) please send an email to info@newtoneastll.org.

Questions on the N.E.L.L. Fall Program can be directed to the commissioner. For more information on this program contact Newton East Little League Fall Commissioner, Bob Krantz.
