I met Gary through the website as I was looking for a league for my son to play. I have been driving from Camp Lejeune since he allowed my son to play and extended the boundary so my son could play.. Gary was a good man, and helped me with this and the little that I know from him, was that he was about helping these young men play baseball. My thoughts and prayers and with his family. Rest in Peace Gary.... Martin Ortega

The Marlins would like to send our condolences to the family of Gary Carter on his passing. Gary served as President of Newport Little League for the past 22 years and was an asset to the Town of Newport for much longer. His leadership, vision and hard work took Newport Little League from ordinary to a district power. Gary was also a good man and good friend to myself and he will be missed. I met Gary in 1987 as a 13 ball player and later worked beside him as a route salesman, Gary always offered me help and guidance and continued to do the same when I started coaching 8 years ago. Gary will never be replaced or forgotten but we should all see to it that Newport Little League continues to thrive in his memory.

I just wanted to wish everyone a great 2009 season. The website looks great I hope we can keep it up as the season progresses. This will most likely be my last year coaching and I'am very much looking forward to the challenge. This league has come a long way during my 8 years and i'm proud to have been a part of it. The field expansion, bullpens, new scoreboard , new infield turf as well as hosting several District Tournaments and culminating in last years State Tournament are examples of what hard work and dedication can get you. I appreciate all of the volunteers I have worked with during my time and hope that we have served as a positive example to the children as they are tommorow's volunteers. I'd like to end by saying to everyone to keep going, we aren't there yet we still have much to do! We may not be the ones to finish it but we pave the way for the ones who will.

I want to Congratulate Newport LL for the 1st class 2008 9-10 State All-Star tournament!! There were nothing but good complements from our team and parents. The grounds crew was exceptional!! They made the field playable on numerous occasions. From the tournament director (Buddy Nay) to the press box and the fans you have shown nothing but 1st class hospitality. Our stay was very memorable! We look forward to seeing all of you again one day!! Thanks Again!! Boiling Springs 9-10 yr. olds Coach Aaron Burnham
