Newport Little League *All-Stars* - UPDATE

Great job to our Newport Little League 9-10 All-Stars during the NC District 4; 9-10 tournament hosted by Havelock Little League. The 9-10 All-Stars started their tournament run against North State from Greenville, NC and took a hard 12-0 loss. However, they would not let this loss hold them down as they secured a 7-17 victory against Beaufort in the second round. After securing the win, the 9-10 All-Stars faced off against the second Greenville team Tarheel, where they played their best game yet. They led the game for 5 full innings before taking a tough call in the top of the 6th resulting in a 3-5 loss, and ending their tournament run.

We are very proud of our 9-10 All-Stars who worked hard and put an insurmountable amount of heart into every game they played.

Newport Little League 7-8 All-Stars

Congratulations to the Newport Little League 7-8 All-Stars who battled it out during the 7-8 tournament hosted by Twin Rivers Little League and took home an overall second place standing, securing a spot in the State Tournament.

The 7-8 All-Stars came out the gate with a 7-4 win against ElCiPaCa, catapulting them into a 21-2 victory in round 3 against Havelock, before facing their first defeat in a 15-4 loss against Rocky Mount in round 7. They would continue to battle it out in round 9 with a nail biting 14-13 win against ElCiPaCa, securing them in the final round against Rocky Mount, where they would take their second loss in a 13-3 battle for the title.

Although they took a loss on the field, we could not be more ecstatic about the great baseball our 7-8 All-Stars played and the sportsmanship they showed both on and off the field.

The 7-8 All-Stars will take the next few weeks to sharpen their skills in preparation for the State Tournament in July. In addition to their preparations on the field, they have set up a Go Fund Me page in hopes to rally some community support to help offset the costs of traveling to the tournament.
