Coach Stark's Corner
One month down, one month to go before we head to Tampa for camp. We spent the first month conditioning, now it's time to step it up. We will be focusing on stunting and the pom routine while still perfecting our jumps and motions. It's going to be a very busy July.
Don't forget, it is very important to keep up with your payments.

The second booster meeting of the new season was held on June 24th. Decisions were made about camp, transportation and fund-raisers. Please review the minutes if you were not able to attend.

NHS POM/DANCE TEAM
The dance team has been selected and we are well on our way to being ready for our first performance at camp on August 1. Congratulations to Brandi, Courtney H, Erika, Feonna, Hailee, Heather, Katie P, Madison, Maggie, Mehgan, Paris, Rachel, Shelby D, Shelby R, and Tomesha. Remember, you must practice at home and it is your responsibility to learn what you missed if you must miss a practice. Team members that can't keep up will be removed and/or replaced. The next three practices have been placed on the team calendar. The remaining practices will be decided upon at practice on July 15.

TUMBLING CLASSES
Tumbling classes have been moved to Tuesdays at Sun Country, but they are still at the same time, 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please make sure you bring payment for the month to the first class. Checks should be made payable to "NHS Cheer Boosters" as we write one check to Sun Country. The cost is $50 per month and there is no membership fee. It's not too late to participate. All NHS cheerleaders, beginners (still learning cartwheels) through the advanced, are welcome and encouraged to attend. Let Coach Stark know if you are interested!

EXERCISES!
Remember - it's important that you work on your own! Do these exercises three to four times a week for better jumps, sharper motions, and awesome stunts.
** hip flexors - 3, 5, 7, 10, 10, 7, 5, 3
** power jumps - three sets of 15
** forearm bridge - 5 times, 30 seconds each
** wall sits - 5 times, 30 seconds each
** side crunches - 25 each side
** hip lifts - 25 ** throw downs - 25
** push ups - 10 in, 10 out, 10 in triangle, 20 regular
** lunges - 25 each leg
** squats - 25
** tricep dips - 20
** calf raises - 25 each leg
If these become easy, increase the repetitions.
You should also be running or walk/running a minimum of one mile a day.
