Rules |
|
Purpose
The cheerleaders shall promote and uphold school spirit.
They shall develop a sense of good sportsmanship among the student body.
They shall promote unification of the crowd's involvement during school activities.
Practices/Games
Practice: All are mandatory!!
Fall/Winter: Monday-Thursday 2:45-5:00
PRACTICE SCHEDULE MAY CHANGE DUE TO COMPETITIONS OR CHANGE OF GAME SCHEDULES
Games: All are mandatory!!
Varsity: cheer all V. football games - Thur, Fri or Saturdays
cheer all V. basketball games - Tues and Fri. nights
Varsity Cheerleaders must participate in 80% of the games for both seasons to earn a Varsity letter.
Junior Varsity: cheer all home V. soccer games - 1 night a week (some Saturdays)
cheer all J.V. basketball games- Tues and Fri nights
Cheerleaders are responsible for transportation to and from practices. All must be on time and ready for practice.
Captains
Be at practice before starting time and begin on time
Take attendance at all games and practices
Act as leader
Show no partiality
Choreograph routines
Will lead squad in game situations, starting chants, etc
Will act as special communicator between coach and squad
Will lead squad in necessary warm-up and stretching at the beginning of every practice.
Cheering
You may not be allowed to cheer for any other team. You may ONLY cheer for Neshaminy High School.
You may not be able to participate in any sports during the cheerleading seasons (Fall/Winter)
Absences and Attire
For every practice missed before a game, the cheerleader MUST attend in uniform, but not cheer. Cheerleader must assist coach during game.
Athletic wear must be worn to practices. Dress in layers. Cheerleading sneakers only. Gum and jewelry are not permitted at practices or games.
Conduct
Cheerleaders shall:
Conduct themselves properly at ALL times, as offical representitives of the school.
Not display undesirable emotions, such as, crying, anger, loudness, rage, etc.
Display good sportsmanship at all times.
Set a sterling example in the classroom for other students.
Respect and obey coach's orders.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to tryout for cheerleading in Neshaminy High School you must meet certain specifications.
1. Must bring 3rd marking period report card to the 1st day of tryouts.
2. Must not have no more than one "F"
3. Maximum limit of 20 absences in a school year.
4. At the 1st day of practice in August, the cheerleader must bring 4th marking period report card.
