Letter from Sweet Briar College to Coach Manny (4/28/13)...recruiting 2014 players.  NCAA DIII program...are you a pre-med or a future vetenerian.  Read more...

Dear Coach Garcia,

My name is Danielle Delude and I am the Head Softball Coach at Sweet Briar College, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.

We have begun aggressively recruiting the class of 2014 and I wanted to ask for your help.  We are looking for players that fit into our program and would thrive at our college.

About our program:
  • We are a Division III institution that is a part of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference -- arguably the most competitive DIII softball conference in the nation.
  • We look for players that want to competecompetecompete.  Players that don't want to ever go more than ten minutes at practice without challenging themselves and their teammates.
  • We look for players that want to make an impact.  We are only in our eighth season of softball, so we look for players that would relish the opportunity to help build our softball legacy.
  • We look for players that are great teammates.  Players that are always looking out for their teammates and who regularly seek to make their teammates better, on and off the field.
About Sweet Briar:
  • We are a women's college located on 3,250 acres in Central Virginia.  Our gorgeous campus (Ranked #3 Most Beautiful Campus -- Princeton Review) features two lakes and 18 miles of trails.
  • 85-90% of our current students would tell you that they never thought they would attend a women's college.  Now?  They think it's the best decision they have ever made.  In fact, we asked alumnae to describe their Sweet Briar experience in one word.  The most common response?  Transformational.
  • Our students come here to do amazing things.  60% of our graduates continue on to graduate or professional school.  80% of our Pre-Med students get into their first-choice med school -- more than double the national average.  98% of our Pre-Vet students get into vet school -- the national average?  26%.
  • Our student to faculty ratio is 8:1.  Faculty are not lecturers in a hall. They are mentors, pushing and guiding students to reach their goals.
  • Students here describe themselves as hard-working, highly motivated, ambitious and intellectually self-confident.
Your Help:
As a coach, you play such a key role in your players development and know the type of institution they may fit the best.  Our program and our college offer unique opportunities. If you have a student-athlete that you think would help us reach our goals and would benefit from our academic environment, I would love to speak with you about her.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing the Nemesis play this summer.
Sincerely,

Danielle Delude
