~18u Gold~
Team practiced on Saturday then hosted and played at Discovery on Sunday (2W 1L). Two players away on college visits, Janel (Boston College - Official) and Kylie (Marshall - Unofficial).
The Nemesis Elite 14u participated this weekend in the annual Toys for Tots tournament hosted by American Athletics. The girls came out strong in their first game of the weekend and crushed the ball. A few of the girls had doubles and triples this game as we beat SOC Storm, 12-1. The next two games in the pool play didn’t have that much firepower as they lost to OC Lionettes 2-1, and to the host organization American Athletics 1-0. The girls were surprised when they learned that they beat the #1 seed in our pool by that much, but couldn’t produce against the other teams. We placed 4th in our pool. Our first bracket game against Minors Gold seemed to show some promise as we scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and maintained that lead up until the 3rd inning. Too many girls stranded on base and accompanied by untimely errors proved costly as we lost 3-2.

The team had a very rough weekend and played against some really tough teams. There were some positive outcomes from each game.
SATURDAY:
Game 1
The day started off with bad news about our pitcher AC being injured. The coaches hoped by resting in the first and even the second game would help, but proved to not be the case. AC was taken to the Chiropractor after the second game, and we all hope to see her playing again soon. Emily pitched a good game and even had an awesome play in the second inning when she caught a pop fly for the first out and then threw the ball to first base getting the second out. Defensively in this game the girls did not make too many errors allowing only 5 runs. Our hitting however was just not there.
vs. Team Mizuno (L) 5-0
Game 2
Our defense in this game made several errors. It was very frustrating to see these good players take steps backwards. Our hitting was still not strong however we were able to score 2 runs, but with the continuation of errors it was not enough. Mia proved to be a strong third base player; coaches will continue to work with her to be even stronger.
vs. Storm (L) 20-2
Game 3
More of the same mistakes were made by our defense in this game as well. Macey pitched a good a game. Clarissa and Haylee both had some big pop fly’s hit out to them in the outfield and caught them for the outs.
vs. USA Athletics (L) 12-0
SUNDAY:
Mia, Macey and Emilie had some good solid hits. Our outfielders; Clarissa and Kayla were catching the fly balls hit out to them.
vs. CA Cruisers (L) 12-0
