Tips for Tryouts

1) Start throwing the ball NOW and swing the bat every day!

2) Know your age group try-out time and get there early (enough to park, sign in, and warm up)

3) Show up “ready to play”…baseball or loose fit clothing, cleats, hat, and glove (true players always have their own ball in their glove)

4) Bring a Little League bat and helmet if you want to use your own

5) Go to the Snack Shack to sign in and get your number

6) Head straight to the tryout dugout and show the dugout manager that you’ve arrived (wait till your age group is called to enter the dugout)

7) Take time to warm up…grab a friend and play catch (select a safe place/direction to throw)

8) No walking on the baseball field, only hustling…on the field, off the field, for the ball, on the bases…

9) Listen carefully to what you’re being asked to do and do it to the best of your ability

10) Remember, no one bats 1000 or has zero errors so play hard, show your love of the game, and have fun!

Intermediate (50/70) Division

Attention all league-age 11, 12 & 13-year olds!

NCLL, in conjunction with Little League International, has opened a new division of play for your age group. The Intermediate (50/70) Division has been created to give players an opportunity to compete at a higher level while transitioning from the 60-foot Little League diamond to the pro-size 90-foot field. The division gets its name from the 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths.

In addition to the added distances, the playing rules will be more like professional baseball, including leadoffs, pickoffs, and the use of larger diameter bat barrels. Pitch counts will be based upon the age of the pitcher and accepted standards for nearly all youth baseball programs. Other organizational and playing rules will be similar to Little League’s Junior Division. The number of teams and roster size will be determined by the NCLL board. An interleague game schedule of approximately 10-12 games will be established with other leagues within District 14. Games will be played on Sundays and may include a weekday game. The season ends with an All-star team playing in a post-season tournament.

During this inaugural season, in order to prevent the dilution of the existing playing divisions, players must also participate on a Major or Junior Division NCLL team. This will provide players a chance to compete at a higher level while still being able to play with their school and neighborhood friends.

Snack Shack Volunteers
Thanks-in-advance to those who spend that extra time to make our Snackin' Shack a truly great place.  The Snack Shack is always looking for a few extra hands, especially on Saturdays.  If you can't get enough of working behind the counter, contact Moira Jacobs and she will be thrilled to sign you up.  NCLL thanks everyone for supporting the league through the Snack Shack.

Calling All Volunteers
The success of NCLL is only possible through the generosity of volunteers, the selfless parents and players who donate their time an energy to make the league a source of pride for our community.  We encourage you to do your part and step up to the plate.  Whether you have a few hours a month or all the time in the world, a little effort can make a big difference.  If you would like to find out where you can lend a hand, please contact Kristin Moore or Melaney Ryals for more information.

Parking Reminder
As everyone knows, the parking situation at NCLL is no picnic.  The parking lot outside the gate is too small and the neighborhood streets are often too crowded to get a convenient spot.  Plesae note that parking is not allowed inside the gate, behind the snack shack.  City & state laws mandate that the area inside the gate behind the snack shack must remain clear to allow the passage of Emergency Vehicles in the event of an emergency.  NCLL Board members are allowed to park inside the gate as a courtesy.  Please park you car only in the designated areas outside the gate and do not park in the apartment's lot.

NCLL Sponsors
Part of the success of NCLL is possible only through the many generous sponsors who help defray operating costs of the league.  As a NCLL Sponsor, your gift to the league is 100% tax deductible, and a great way to demonstrate your community spirit to your business customers.  Please visit our Sponsorship Program page for more information about becoming a sponsor.
