Weekly Update from Carolyn Janvrin, Fundraising:
Anyone that has NOT been contacted to work tag day this
upcoming weekend will be contacted soon for next weekend's round.
Please keep a close eye on your emails and I will be in touch soon with
more details. We have a big league this year, which is fantastic,
so I had to do 2 rounds. If anyone knows ahead of time that they
will not be available to tag, or just does not want to participate,
please mail a check payable to NYFL in the amount of $30 to Carolyn
Janvrin, 13 Dennett Drive, Newburyport MA 01950. PLEASE put your
child's name and team in the memo on the check so that they get credit
for tagging.
ALSO I will be looking for 4 parent volunteers per team to help with
our End of the Season Banquet: Tentatively planned for November
25th at the Elks Lodge, the time is TBA. Let me know if you are
interested in helping. Thanks. Carolyn
LEAGUE EVENTS:
The CAPE ANN YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE'S ANNUAL CHEERLEADING COMPETITION
is the major fundraiser for the CAYFL. It's held on a Saturday
afternoon towards the end of October/beginning of November. There are 2
programs scheduled that afternoon: the first for the B Teams'
Competition & the second for the A Teams' Competition. The JV &
C Teams are scheduled accordingly by the CAYFL's Director of
Cheerleading to exhibit at one of the Programs.
PASTA/PIZZA PARTIES:
Each Season we try to have a parent, or group of parents, sign up to
sponsor a Pasta or Pizza Party/Pep Rally for their child's team. If
this is something you are interested in, please contact the Head Coach
of your child's Team.
NEWBURYPORT'S ANNUAL YANKEE HOMECOMING PARADE:
We are currently confirming plans for the parade and will be contacting
all members to see who is and is not intersted in participating. We're
looking forward to a great turn-out this year.. great things are being
planned for those who participate!

PRACTICES:
Practices begin August 15. Each coach sets practice days and practice times and notifies the team.
GAMES:
Game schedules for all our teams are posted to the left in the SCHEDULES folder.
PLEASE ARRIVE TO YOUR GAME ONE HOUR BEFORE IT'S SCHEDULED TO START.
UNLESS TOLD OTHERWISE BY YOUR HEAD COACH.
Our A & B team's games are played on Sundays. There are 9 regular
scheduled games each season. The B team is normally played first (just
after 1 pm* for our home games, the officials will let us know when
they're going to start) and the A team's game follows once the B team's
is over (around 2:30-3pm).
Our JVA & JVB team's games are usually scheduled for Saturdays,
however we may have a few weeknights scheduled because of field
availability. These games are generally 9 am JVA start and JVB to
follow (around 10:30 am).
Please
be advised that when games are scheduled we must accommodate: field
availability, official's schedules, as well as the teams &
its coaches.
We are a traveling league and we DO NOT provide transportation. It is
the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation for their
own children. Directions to Away games can be found by clicking on the
LOCATIONS folder to the left.
*We would like everyone to be aware of a City Ordinence that is in place
regarding events being held at our local schools on Sundays. NO ONE IS
TO BEGIN AN EVENT UNTIL 1 PM, OR AFTER, ON SUNDAYS AT OUR LOCAL SCHOOLS.
WE ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY UNTIL 1 PM. Keeping in mind that we
are hosting teams coming from all directions, we will allow people to
come before 1 pm to the parking areas, but NO ONE IS TO BE OUT RUNNING
AROUND THE PROPERTY, ON THE FIELDS, ETC. UNTIL 1 PM.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
All 18+ Volunteers will be required to complete a CORI if you wish to
work directly with our League. Head Coaches must be 21 years or older.
Please note: Our Cheerleaders are not insured and cannot attend any
events held outside of the Cape Ann Youth Football League. Thank you,
in advance, to anyone who is scouting to find teams that are interested
