Speaking of travels, I heard that when Marco Polo first opened the trade routes to China, he was quite impressed with their rockets. Now, these weren't quite the fireworks we now know, but they did shoot into the air, explode and make some pretty patterns. Strangely, no matter where he went, there were people who made fireworks, but he had trouble finding someone to demonstrate them for him.
"Not here!" they said. It was very confusing. Until ol' Marc came upon an ancient military fortification at the community of Chu'Lai. Here, fireworks were launched every night, and Marc was very impressed!
But still he wondered, "Why here?" At the end of every week, people came from great distances, bringing their own fireworks to launch. So Marco Polo asked his guide why everyone came here to launch their fireworks.
Marc's guide replied, "Why honored sir, we always set off fireworks on the Forts of Chu'Lai."

| Hello coaches, and past team mates. How's everything going? Good luck in your tournament. I am doing great down here. I am playing for St. Thomas Aquinas summer Freshmen team, and I am one of the three 8th graders who were recruited for the team. I would just like to thank you coaches for helping me get as far as I am right now. I am the #3 pitcher on a team full of freshmen, and I am constently DH for the team. I have had great sucsess this year on the pitchers mound, and would someday love to come back up and throw with you guys. Good luck in all you do, and I will give you guys a call when I am up this summer, maybe I could have a practice with the new team. Stay active, and win for the namesake. Billy Nesselt. | So far the coaches are doing a great job, the boys look great, the sponsor committee has done their thing, Barbara is handling the finances and Pat is on top of all the teams travel arraingements. The only one responsibility that is an issue and needs to be addressed, so I'll ask the question.. .Which one of you guys is in charge of the weather??? |

| Parents...The Sponsorship Committee has undertaken the task of producing a Sponsor Recruitment Package, designed to raise funds for the team's financial commitments. Because of the weather and practice cancellations, we haven't had the opportunity to provide these to each parent. So far, only the members of the Sponsorship Committee have mailed out the S.R.P.'s. Based on the Sponsorships from this week alone, you can see just how important it is to have every parent participating. Please contact Jack Holmes or Vic Zare and make arrangements to pick up your S.R.P. at the next practice or pitching clinic...thank you. |
