Fleet Park Little League: FPLL News

Message from FPLL President; Fall Ball/Fleet Park Update

Fall Ball is well under way.  We have nearly 260 players playing on 22 teams!!  That is an increase of about 160% from Fall Ball 2008!

The fields are in excellent shape.  The batting cages are up and operational.  There are practices on every field every evening and games on Friday in Kid Pitch; on Saturday in Coach Pitch, Majors and Juniors; on Sunday in Kid Pitch adn T-ball.  Unlike last year, we have 2 junior teams playing interleague ball against other District 8 teams.  Unlike 'forever', we're playing T-ball in the fall, thanx to Coach Hutch Call.

The Board of Directors is looking for a couple of people who are willing to give of their time and talent to further the development of our League.  We sorely need a Treasurer to replace Gary Boswick, who has filled this position for a couple years after the last Boswick player finished at Fleet Park.  Qualifications are pretty obvious.  Gary has been keeping the books on Quicken, so that would put you at the head of the line!!  We're also looking for a new Snack Bar manager, to replace Mary Ellen Triplett.  We all know how important the Snack Bar is to the revenue of the Park and the hospitality for the players and families.  History has proven that a Snack Bar manager who does not have a full time day job makes the position much more manageable.  It is essential that the SB manager have a vehicle that would enable them to carry significant amount of products.  The position can be 'shared', but someone has to be the leader.    If anyone is interested in these opportunities, please, contact Charlie Triplett or any of the other Board members.  Charlie:  489-4529/214-3135.

Fleet Park Little League Fall Ball

Fleet Park Little League is now taking reservations and registrations for Fall Ball at Fleet Park.  The official start will be Saturday September 5th and run through the first week in November.  The program is for players of all ages T-ball through 14, as of April 2010.  It is particularly beneficial for those players moving from one division to another--rising coach pitch, rising minors, etc.  If not enough players sign up for a particular division, then that division may not be able to operate.  Managers/coaches are essential.

As with all Little League events, we will stress player development.  This is an outstanding opportunity to develop pitchers and introduce the those players rising up from veteran coach pitch kids to kid pitch baseball. Last year we played 12 games, with some interleague games. It's a terrific opportunity to keep the kids playing in the fall, and we will work hard to ensure that the schedule does not conflict with other sporting commitments.  There is usually only 1 practice per week and one game played on Fridays and weekends; the final schedule depending the on registration totals.

Please downlad the registration attached to this message, fill it out, and retun it to the Fleet Park email address:

We look forward to seeing you at at the park this Fall!
