Naugatuck Hounds Pop Warner Football and Cheer: Football 2009 Divisions
Mighty Mites are between ages 7 and 9 years old who weigh between 45 and 90 pounds. Mighty Mite is a great beginner division because the formations that teams can use and types of defensive schemes are limited by the rules of Pop Warner football. The greatest emphasis in Mighty Mite football is placed on skill development and sportsmanship.
Junior Peewee Football
Junior Peewee is the youngest of the divisions that compete for championships. Players are between the ages of 8 and 11 and weigh between 60 and 105 pounds (an 11 year-old needs to be under 85 pounds to be eligible for this division).
Peewee Football
Peewees are between 9 and 12 years old and weigh between 75 and 120 pounds. For a 12 year-old to be eligible, the player must weigh under 100 pounds. Peewees play a competitive schedule that can end in a playoff game, a bowl game, a trophy game, or a friendship game.
Junior Midget Football
Junior Midgets are between 10 and 13 years old and weigh between 85 and 135 pounds. A 13 year-old needs to weigh under 115 pounds to be eligible for this division.
Midget Football
Midget football is the highest division offered by NJFL Naugatuck Hounds Pop Warner. Players between the ages of 11 and 15 years old who weigh between 105 and 160 pounds. For a 15 year-old to be eligible, the player must weight less than 140 pounds.
Flag Football
Flag Players are ages 5 and 6 years old. Flag is a great introduction to football, and emphasis is placed on skill development and sportsmanship.
Flag Cheer
Flag Cheerleaders are ages 5 and 6 years old. Flag is a great beginner division because it focuses on simple cheers and routines. The coaches teach the skills the girls will need at a higher level. The girls do not compete at this level.
Mighty Mite Cheer
Mighty Mites are between ages 7 and 9 years old. Mighty Mite is a great beginner division because the routines are basics. The coaches teach the skills the girls will need at a higher level. The girls do not compete at this level. They will go to the competition and perform. They will not be judged.
Junior Peewee Cheer
Junior Peewee is the youngest of the divisions that will compete. Girls are between the ages of 8 and 11. (an 11 year old can only be on this squad if the football team has an older lighter player)
Peewee Cheer
Peewees are between 9 and 12 years old (a 12 year old can only be on this squad if the football team has an older lighter player) Girls at this level will also compete.
Junior Midget Cheer
Junior Midgets are between 10 and 13 years old . (a 13 year old can only be on this squad if the football team has an older lighter player) Girls at this level will also compete.
