North Andover Booster Club Softball
North Andover Booster Club (NABC) Softballs mission is to create an environment where players of all ages and abilities will have an opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of softball. This is a recreation and development program with age divisions to approximate skill level, and also offering travel team competition for those players so inclined. We look to measure our success in achieving this mission by the following:
number of players continuing in program each year measures enjoyment
parental and player feedback measures many criteria
eventual improvement in older division and on travel teams measures development
We also look for continual improvement in the program, and will evaluate program structure, participation, etc. every year to look for ways to match our mission.
NABC Softball will have four divisions:
1. Grade 1 and 2, coaches pitch and the emphasis is on fun and fundamentals
2. Instructional Grade 3 and 4, where we begin to teach the game concepts, including teaching the girls to pitch
3. Player Pitch Grade 5 & 6, where we introduce the players to pitching, stealing, bunting, and finer points of catching behind the plate
4. Player Pitch Grade 7 & 8, where the players play the full game
We believe that this structure helps players of all abilities to enjoy their experience. We also believe that a league where helping young people develop physically, psychologically, and socially is valued higher than winning is a league of which we can all be proud.
On-line registration begins on December 1 and ends on February 28. Registration fee for Grades 1-2 is $60 and Grades 3-8 is $85. A late fee of $20 is assessed after 2/28.
Generally teams are assigned by April, and the coaches for the older divisions are notified and start practice before the vacation. For the younger divisions we try to honor player requests and it takes longer to organize the rosters. So, we begin practices after vacations. Games for all start the first week in May.
