BEACH BUMS GO WINLESS IN FLORIDA WORLD SERIES
The South Florida Beach Bums finally found some offense in Saturday's final pool play game at the Roger Dean Complex in Jupiter, but came away with another disappointing loss, this one by a 12-10 score against the So Cal Elite from Southern California. The Beach Bums lost doubleheaders on both Thursday and Friday to go 0-5 in the Florida event, a direct opposite from their 4-0 start in the Palm Beach Fall League (see below). .
Brian Holden (Rockhounds) turned in a brilliant pitching effort in the Beach Bums' best tournament showing on Fridday, but lost a heartbreaker, 2-1, against the New York Redbirds.
The two championship events are slated for Roger Dean Stadium today.
The tournament has drawn teams from all over the country, including Southern California, Chattanooga (TN), San Antonio (TX), Richmond (VA), New York, Philadelphia, as well as a team from Canada.
LAST WEEK IN THE PALM BEACH LEAGUE
South Florida Beach Bums scored their fourth win in as many games, downing the Warriors 9-4 Sunday afternoon at Seminole Palms Park. Earlier at Seminole Palms, the Royals got their first win with an 8-2 win over the Brewers.
At Santaluces, the Rockhounds led 3-2 going to the bottom of the 8th inning, but Chamos rallied for a run and their morning contest wound up in a 3-3 tie. In the afternoon contest there, the Leones behind a route going performance by Kyle Merritt slipped past the West Palm Beach White Sox 4-2.
In 18AA action, the Pirates broke a 2-2 tie to down the Sugar Kings 4-2 at Dave Manzo Field in Lake Worth. In the afternoon tilt at Manzo, the Rangers blew away the Braves 17-3.
And at Dyer Park, the expansion Tigers held off a late rally by the Dodgers to win 7-6. In the afternoon, the Marlins bombed the Mariners 19-4.

LEAGUE INFORMATION----Three of the four fields at Santaluces are now closed for field maintenance. The league has scheduled games at Santaluces Field #1, Seminole Palms, Dyer Park, Dave Manzo Field in Lake Worth, and West Boynton Park for the next seven play dates. We will be able to return to all four fields at the Santaluces Complex on January 3, 2010. .
