HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

Welcome to the home pages of the Palm Beach Adult Baseball Association, affiliated with the National Adult Baseball Association

HOLIDAY WEEKEND-NO GAMES HERE, BUT RANGERS ADVANCE IN COOPERSTOWN TOURNEY

Happy Independence Weekend, as we celebrate 233 years as a nation.  We hope you're enjoying the weekend with family and friends.

While there are no league games on Sunday, July 5, several league players are ompeting in the NABA Hall of Fame Classic at Cooperstown, NY.  The Florida Rangers, managed by Leo Merced, lost a 7-4 decision to the Rochester (NY) Warriors on Friday, July 3.

The Rangers made Sunday's playoff, though, with a pair of victories on July 4th.  They beat the Main Street Pub A's 6-4 with the Cubs' Mike Alfinez pitching them to the win, then they completed a suspended game in which they topped the Triple Threat team from South Jersey 6-0 on a one hitter by the Royals' Kenny Rua.  That game was suspended on Thursday in the bottom of the fifth inning.

As a result of their two wins, the Rangers were seeded fourth and are playing the unbeaten  and top seeded New York/New Jersey Cardinals (3-0) in the semifinal Sunday morning.  Should they win they would advance to the championship game in the afternoon.

The Rangers roster consists of Palm Beach League players from several teams, along with players from other leagues, who have played with the Rangers in other tournaments.  Representing the  Rangers is Jose Pena Jr.  From the Cubs, Tom Brodrick and Mike Alfinez.  The Braves have supplied Steve Grove and Pat Wilson.  Emilio Vargas (Cardinals), Marcel Castaneda (So. Florida Beach Bums) and Kenny Rua (Royals) round out the local contingent at the Baseball Shrine.

TWICE POSTPONED ALL STAR GAME NOW SET FOR TUESDAY

The 18AA All Star game, which has been postponed on June 23 and June 30, is now rescheduled for Tuesday, July 7 at 7PM at the Santaluces Complex.  Star players from the American Division (Mariners, Atlantic Coast, Rangers, Warriors, Glory Days and White Sox) will take on the best of the Naitonal Division (Brewers, Alabama Joe"s Marlins, Mobile Chiropractic Dodgers, Pirates, Braves and Cubs).

LEAGUE ACTION RESUMES JULY 12

League play will resume on Sunday, July 12.  At Dyer Park, the Cubs, who tasted their first two defeats at the hands of the Warriors, will visit the Mariners in the 9:30AM game.  At 1:30PM, the Pirates visit Glory Days.  At Santaluces, Field #1 action will see the 18AAA leading Cardinals at the Orioles at 9:30AM, followed by a 1:30PM game---Braves at White Sox.  On Field Two, the 9:30 game has Chamos at the Royals, followed at 1:30 by the Beach Bums at the Leones.  On Field Three at 9:30AM, the Dodgers visit the Warriors in the morning, the Brewers at Atlantic Coast at 1:30.  On Field #4, the Rangers and Brewers will compete the final inning of their 3-3 suspended tie game.  That has been rescheduled at 12:30PM, followed by a 1:30PM game that will have the Marlins visiting the Rangers.
