SUNDAY SCOREBOARD
The Rockhounds stayed in first place in the 18AAA league last Sunday with a little help from Lady Luck. The Hounds led 4-0 until the bottom of the 9th inning when the Leones, forced to play with only eight players, scored three runs, but fell short with the bases loaded and two outs when the 9th spot in the order was due up, under leaague rules an automatic out, ending the game. Brian Holden, who pitched six innings of no hit ball, got his 5th win against no losses. Alex McEnaney pitched two scoreless, with the three runs all coming off Danny LaPerna. Melvin Bruno had two singles and a double, McEnaney two doubles and Holden chipped in with two singles.
In other 18AAA action,.Chamos walloped the Brewers 19-1. Carlos Dominguez had three hits and five runs batted in. Manager David Machado and Ray Infante also had three hits each. The Royals spanked the Warriors 14-2 as Max Johnson smacked a three run and a single to drive in four runs. After the game, the Warriors announced they were folding for the second half of the season. And, the second place Beach Bums outlasted the White Sox 11-9. Matt Schnelly got his fifth win against no losses in relief. Hugo Hesney's two run single put the Beach Bums ahead to stay.
In the 18AA league, the unbean Pirates made it seven in a row, capitalizing on errors to beat the Rangers 4-2. Jason Plocek (4-0) went all nine, striking out nine and tripling in the deciding run, to outduel Angel Garcia, who struck out 13 in a losing casue.
The Sugar Kings won a 4-3 nailbiter over the Marlins with Albert Bosch going five for the win and Mario Estevez pitching the last four for the save. Bosch also had two hits, and he and Estevez limited the Marlins to just three hits. Paul Chasse (6IP) and Troy Sorrells (2IP) combined to shut out the Tigers on two hits. Sorrells led the offense with three hits, one of them a double. And, the Dodgers handed the Braves their 7th straight loss, 11-2, behind Jayson Martin's complete game mound performance. Newcomer Pete Kapianaris had three hits and Justin Irby clouted a triple and a double to knock in two runs.

LEAGUE INFORMATION----The Warriors have disbanded, dropping the 18AAA league back to seven teams for the final half of the season. Each of the`8AAA teams will be scheduled to play two different opponents on one Sunday each week to keep the schedule intact. A new format for the AAA All Star game on Dec. 16 has been drawn up. Check it out on the weekly newsletter. Click on Newsletters, etc. on left hand side of this page.
Certificates have been mailed to the managers of our Players and Pitchers of the Week, retroactive to October 11, opening day. Each certificate entitles the award winners to a pair of tickets to a Florida State League at Roger Dean Stadium. Log on to Roger Dean Stadium. com for the complete schedule.
The official league shirts are in and will be distributed to the teams on Sunday, Dec. 6.
Three of the four fields at Santaluces are now closed for field maintenance. The league has scheduled games at Santaluces Field #1, Seminole Palms, Dyer Park, Dave Manzo Field in Lake Worth, and West Boynton Park for the next seven play dates. We will be able to return to all four fields at the Santaluces Complex on January 3, 2010. .
