N. A. A. MONTHLY MEETING

April 8, 2015

ATTENDEES: E Deutsch, S Guttman, S Kerbacher, B Hughes, M Slivka, E Wescoe, C Mannino, K Harryn, J Reph, C Henritzy, J Bogden, M Bodnar, G Winkle, J Clapso, M Makovsky, Spengler

OLD BUSINESS:

Fundraising:   Baseball/ Softball Clinic – portion of proceeds went to the Rec Center and both the High School Baseball and Softball Booster Clubs

Golf Tournament was held April 12th

Coaches have all been given information for Opening Day Basket Raffle

Merchandise will be sold Opening Day

 

Facilities:    Materials are in for the Batting Cage

                     Rollup Door for Snackstand to be installed 4/9

                     Borough to attempt to complete Blacktop prior to Opening Day -

                     Weather is backlogging jobs.

                      Electrical work in snackstand to be completed

                     MOTION :  Money for Shed Field #4  1st Reph  2n Henritzy – passed by

                                           Majority 

NEW BUSINESS:

Basketball:

                Nothing to report

Baseball:

            Borough to work on fields, visiting fields on daily basis as weather permits

            May 16th – scheduled Picture Day

            LVL – roster night next week

            CWL – rosters are set /teams have begun practices

            Canal Street fill in and seeding was completed

             In house Tshirts and Hats were ordered

Softball:

             Parkland League teams set / schedules being finalized

             LVL schedules are posted

             Umpire contracts were finalized

             Will need league fees

Football:

              Tentative dates set for High School Summer camp

              League By Laws were finalized and will be posted on the league website

               Birthdate cutoff was changed to August 1 for all levels.

               Games will start at times specified on the schedule.

               No meeting this month

Cheering:

               Sign ups are in process

Wrestling:

                 Nothing to report

Field Hockey:

                  Nothing to report

OTHER BUSINESS:

                Background Process is being communicated to coaches

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Fundraising: Basket Bingo was held at the Fire Station proceeds to the Rec Center

 

                     Baseball/Softball Clinic scheduled for 3/14 and 3/15

 

                     Lottery Tickets were all handed out

 

                     Golf Tournament April 12th

 

                     Will be looking into Glow Golf – Slivka and Henritzy to speak to Butch

 

 

 

Facilities:    Batting Cages:  MOTION 1st Slivka  2nd Mannino  passed by majority

 

                    Rollup Door and Man Door put on hold

 

                    Kerbacher to follow up with Borough regarding Blacktop for NAA complex

 

                    John working on prices for sheds

                    J Kremus extended Thank you to all volunteers

 

                    Equipment hand in is on going

 

                    2 teams entered Galusha Tournament – 5/6 grade level champions

 

Baseball:

 

                    LVL – Roster night mid April

 

                    Legion: will remain w/ Norco League in conjunction with LVL

 

                    NAA Evaluation 3/21 – 3/22

 

                    Need to schedule time for field prep

 

                    Wescoe submitting letter to Iron Pigs for Field Makeover

 

Softball:

 

                   Parkland – final counts needed for tomorrow

 

                     LVL     - need rough counts by end of month

 

                    Umpire Fees – raised to $48 for LVL

 

                     Parkland league is challenging fee increase

 

                   League Fees – Parkland $150/team

 

                                           Prep  $15/team

 

                                           LVL   $75/team

 

Football:

 

                    Signups will be in May, June and July

 

                    NAA will compete in the American Division

 

                    Slivka has tentative schedule/ opening day was moved up 1 week

 

                     By-Law changes are in the voting process

 

                     High School will host Summer camp – date TBD

 

                     Discussed NAA hosting a speed camp

 

Cheering:

 

                     Prepping for Sign ups

 

                     Need 5 boxes of fundraiser candy

 

                      Flyer to be sent to Slivka to distribute to schools

 

                      Will need registration forms

 

Wrestling:

                         Open to quoting for other constructional needs (doors etc)

                         Looking for quote on Snackstand rollup and 2 man doors

NEW BUSINESS:

Basketball: season is running smoothly

                    LVL meeting Sunday

                    Playoffs begin week of 2/15

                    Looking for court time for girl’s end of season tournament

                    Keep in mind recruitment of coaches for next season

 

Baseball:    LVL need team counts for March meeting

                    Count of 53 signups completed

                    CWL:  need rough number of teams for February meeting

                                 Discussed placing teams in A division/ concern with pitching

                                 Placing 1 team in A division may be required

                     Discussion on creating a Majors division – cannot be done at this time

                     With commitment to LTAA and field availability

      MOTION: Baseball Budget – 1st Clapso 2nd Reph  Passed by Majority

                      High School Hosting Coaches clinic Monday 2/23 from 6-8pm

                      Discussed how to submit coaches background checks

Softball:  Rough team counts needed for meeting

                NAA will compete in Parkland league and LVL

                LVL meeting next week – there will be no division split

                                                             Umpire contract not finalized

Football:  need check for League Fees

                 Motion 1st Bodnar  2nd Blaukovitch passed by majority

                 Next meeting will determine what Division NAA will compete in for 2015

                  ByLaw meeting will dictate rule changes/eligibility requirements

                  High School Clinic potentially held week of July 13th

 

Cheering: sign up dates determined and to be posted on website.

                      Wed. April 8th 630-8pm

                       Sun. April 19th 330-530 pm

                       Sun. April 26th 330-530pm     all at Rec Center

Wrestling: Division Champs 8-0

                   2 day Varsity Tournament Champs

                   Jim Derr – Coach of Year  - 3rd Consecutive Year
