High School - Good Luck!

Mystic finished up the Fall/Winter season very strong.  Over our last 10 - 15 games (when it wasn't raining), the performances of our pitching was nothing less than spectacular.  Couple that with exceptional defense and our future this summer seems to be very bright.

At this point, we shut down for High School and wish our girls nothing but the best.  We'll follow the following school seasons and hope they all make CIF Finals:

West Hills, Westview, UC, Clairemont, Point Loma, Coronado, Hilltop, and Bonita.

Check back for a team color photo once uniforms are handed out.

Once again, good luck and we'll see you guys on the HS circuit.

Thursday, January 22
Friendly Results

Mystic hosted 2 friendlies over the past couple weeks.  We had Powersurge, Diamonds, and Chaos to our fields over both weekends.  We played unique games (for friendlies) where we played 8 inning games with the last inning ITB.  This gave our team a chance to work on something that only happens once and a while during Championship Play.  Sets up pressure situations in the field and at the plate.

They were good long games and our pitching and defense in all 4 games was outstanding:   3 runs allowed over all 4 games.

Hats off to Amanda, Lindsey, and Sarah for being so dominant.

Let's keep it going this weekend as we head off to play 6 games in the Sudden Impact 2 Day Friendly in Beaumont.

Good luck.

Monday, January 5
AFC 18U Showcase

Mystic played OUTSTANDING this weekend in the Showcase while scoring 40+runs in 5 games and going 4-1.

We started slow in our first game but then reeled off 4 straight scoring onslaughts in winning 8-0, 14-1, 8-0, 6-2.

Hats off to our girls for hitting so extremely well.

Keep up the good work and we'll see you at practice.

Monday, December 1
New Mystic 12U Team

The Mystic Organization is proud to announce the addition of a new 12U team.

Our first practice is Wednesday night so if you are interested, please come to the fields at 4:30.

We'll have updates and a web page up as soon as we get more details and full committments.

Looking forward to seeing the youngsters on the field!

With this addition, Mystic now has 12U, 14U, and 16U teams competing.

Monday, November 24
Liberty 18U Friendly Results

Mystic played well in going undefeated at the Liberty friendly this weekend.  The best game was against So Cal Wicked, a 1-1 tie.

We had a couple opportunities to get a clutch hit and blow the game open but couldn't come through.  Our pitching was great in all 3 games and our new teammate, Sarah, pitched very well in her first game.

We're off to play in the ASA Turkey Tournament in Chino Hills this weekend (rain permitting).  Good luck ladies.  Bring your "A" games.

Tuesday, November 11
Welcome to the Team!

Mystic would like to welcome two new additions to its team:

Julie comes from TNL and adds a big bat and excellent defense.

Sarah plays and pitches for West Hills High and really helps our pitching rotation.

Both additions upgrade our team tremendously.

Welcome Ladies!

Friday, October 31
America's Finest City Results

Mystic really played well all weekend.

The level of intensity was pretty low by all participants and I think most everyone was disappointed that there were no college coaches watching the 16's.  It basically turned into a glorified friendly with massive substitutions on both sides.

This weekend, we're off to play our last Surf City Showcase so hopefully we can get some coaches to our fields.

We are looking forward to playing Victory USA and Teamsmith (Cal Legacy).  Both teams have outstanding pitching.

Bring your A games ladies.

Wednesday, October 22
Mystic Friendly Results

Mystic welcomed Corona Express, CA Desperados, and SD Legacy to our fields this past Sunday.  It was a beautiful day for softball and the Mystic Ladies played excellent all day.

We went 3-0 and had a great 7 inning tournament style game in our last matchup of the day against SD Legacy.  Morgan for Legacy pitched outstanding and kept our bats in check most of the day until the last inning when Justine got a walk off hit for the game winner (2-1).  For Mystic, Amanda and Lindsey pitched outstanding as they kept Legacy in check.

Mystic really appreciates the fact that quality teams and quality coaches continue to come to San Diego to play.

We look forward to seeing both teams and both organizations in the future.

Mystic has 5 games this weekend at the Americas Finest City Showcase and if we keep pitching and playing defense the way we are, we should do very well.

We play Arizona Thunder, So Cal Hurricanes, CA Grapettes, OC Elite, and USA Athletics.  These should all be outstanding games.

We'll see you on the field.

Tuesday, October 14
Surf City Results

Mystic 16U went 3-1-1 at Surf City this past weekend.

The team started slow again with the bats in the first 2 games but came around on Sunday to go 3-0.  In all 5 games though, the pitching and defense was outstanding.

We host Corona Express, CA Desperados, and SD Legacy this Sunday so we can continue to work on our hitting before AFC and the ASA Turkey Tournaments.

Monday, October 6
Friendly Results

Mystic went 1-1-1 in the latest Artesia Punishers Friendly:

    Mystic 0 - Hurricanes 0, Punishers 1 - Mystic 0, Mystic 3 - Cal Storm 2.

Our pitching and defense were outstanding.  Really, really, strong.  However, our bats never got off the ground.  We'll need to hit better going forward.

Ladies, expect a LOT of hitting practice.

We're off on a binge of Showcases (2 Surf City, AFC) and Tournaments (ASA, AA's) through the rest of the year.

Let's work hard.

Tuesday, September 16
Welcome to the Team!

Mystic 16U would like to welcome 5 new members to its team:

Vanessa, Lindsey, Crystal, Justine, and Kayla.

Vanessa, or VMac as we like to call her, plays at West Hills High School and plays SS, 2nd, and OF.  Vanessa has actually been on our team since this summer but is officially part of the crew.  Welcome Vanessa!

Lindsey comes to us from TNL.  Lindsey pitches and plays 1B.  We're very happy to have Lindsey as one of our pitchers and players. Welcome Lindsey!

Crystal comes to us from Fusion.  Crystal plays OF and 2B.  From what I saw at our last practice, Crystal can hit!  Welcome Crystal.

Justine comes to us from Point Loma High, where she started at 3B as a freshman.  Justine left us to pursue Basketball last winter but has decided to return.  Justine plays 3B and C (really, she plays everywhere).  Welcome back Justine!

Kayla is our newest commitment.  Kayla comes from Fusion as well and blew us away at her first tryout.  Kayla plays SS, 3B and OF and has some serious hitting skills.  Welcome Kayla!

With the core we already had, plus the additions we have made, this fall and next summer could be very special.

The coaching staff looks forward to getting this team out to the showcases and tournaments.

Here is to a successful fall 2008 and 2009.

Mystic Tryout Information

Mystic 16U has tryouts both Saturday and Sunday, September 6th and 7th.  Tryouts will last from 9am to 1pm.  PLEASE arrive early to have time to fill out our Tryout Information sheet (see handout below).

We are looking for several starting positions.

We already have 5 tournaments scheduled this fall and we are one of only a couple San Diego Teams entered in the Surf City Showcases and tournaments.  We have also just entered the Chino Hills ASA Turkey Tournament that all the top So Cal Teams attend.

Fall, leading into High School, will be busy as we prepare for a huge summer tournament season in 2009.

We encourage anyone looking for a 16U team to come out to our tryouts.  Any 16U playing age is acceptable (1992, 1993, 1994).

See you Saturday.

Monday, August 18
Final Summer Showcase Results - Very Succesful

The Mystic Girls played strong all weekend against 16U and 18U competition and went 5-1. Pitching and Defense were just unbelievable. All the hard work and dedication throughout the year showed as the girls played phenomenal softball. It was a pleasure to watch.

The coaches would like to thank the girls that came out to showcase their talents for our team this fall.

At this point, after a long, succesful season that started last September, Mystic will take a break for a couple weeks and come back ready to go on September 6 and 7 as we prepare for an even more succesful season this fall and in 2009.

Mystic tryouts are September 6th and 7th at Mt. Acadia Park (use the locations link above) from 9am to 1pm.

Thanks again to all the parents and fans that have supported us all season.

See you in a couple weeks.

Mystic San Diego Fall and 2009 Information

Mystic '93 is wrapping up its successful season next weekend at our hosted event: Triple Crown's 2nd Annual "Showcase by the Sea".

September 6 and 7 we will be having our first tryouts for fall 2008 and summer 2009. This is going to be an exciting year for us as we have already signed up for 2 OC Batbuster Showcases, the America's Finest City Showcase, and the 2009 Firecracker.

We'll also compete at all the ASA Main Event's culminating in what we hope to be a trip to ASA Nationals.

Mystic has long prided itself on disciplined teams with very little turnover. We expect tryouts to be tough with the coaches looking to enhance what we already have.

Please contact us at anytime if you are interested in playing with Mystic 16U.

Thank you.

Mystic '93 Finishes 2ND at Triple Crown World Series

Please click on the link to see the results of the World Series.

Wow, what a week! Congratulations to our players, parents, and coaches on a tremendous effort all week.

Everything came together as we played 12 games in 5 days and getting all the way through the bracket to the Championship Game.

There are so many memories but the game of the Tournament was against the SoCal Hurricanes in the Semi-Final. After trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th, the Mystic team came back with 3 runs with 1 out to win 4-3. Danielle had the big hit and Jessica scored the walk off game winner with a HUGE heads up play. Our team went crazy.

The 6 run comeback against the Central Coast Express '93 team in the 7th inning of pool play was also incredible.

Beating OC Dynasty 2-1 in the Semi's of the Winner's Bracket was another huge, emotional win for our team.

We'd like to thank all the teams we played especially the SoCal Storm '93 (Champs). The Storm team is a class team and played the game with respect. Good luck at Nationals Storm.

We're back to the practice field as we gear up for Western Nationals. I believe that with the same committment to excellence, we can repeat our outstanding performance at Western's.

Good luck ladies.

Monday, June 30
Mystic '93 Qualifies for 16U Triple Crown World Series

Mystic played okay this weekend in the 16U Triple Crown Event in San Clemente.

We went 3-2 but could have easily been 5-0 and in the Semi's with one play here or there.

We'll be practicing all week as we prepare for the ASA National Qualifier in Menifee.

Tuesday, June 24
Friendly Results

Mystic has gone 4-0-2 in our last 2 friendlies.  We hosted Academy 16U, SD Legacy, and Bomb Squad '93 and played very well.  Our pitchers gave up 2 earned runs in 3 games.

This past Sunday, we went to Yorba Linda to play in Bomb Squad's friendly and again went undefeated.  Again, our pitchers pitched outstanding and we started to hit consistently in the last 2 games.

We are about to embark on 2 months of nothing but Tournaments:

Triple Crown Red, White, and Blue 16U

ASA National Qualifier

Triple Crown World Series

ASA Western Nationals

Triple Crown Showcase by the Sea 16U

Every pitch means something from here on out...focus...focus...focus.

Thursday, June 12
ASA State Results

Mystic went 3-2 at State's.  We had quite the draw but we did well.

Game one had us against the SoCal Patriots '93 at 2pm Friday.  After a slow start and falling behind 1-0, we came back strong and put the ball in play in the last 4 innings and coasted to a 9-2 win.  Ashlyn had a big 2 out 2 Rbi single to break the game open.  Congrats Ash!  The weekend started strong and we felt confident going into game 2.

Game two had us against the SoCal Jets, who turned out to be the eventual Champions.  We played a couple innings tight but the Jets kept putting the ball in play and we could not keep up.  We stranded 14 runners on base in this game so we had ample opportunities to win this game.  Considering that the Jets would up winning the Tournament, I think that had we had a couple clutch hits here or there, it could have been a much different weekend.  But, the bottom line is we lost.

Looking at 5 games on Saturday could have had us down but we bounced right back and beat Dynasty 3-0 in Game three.  Amanda pitched outstanding in the game and we did just enough to win.

Game 4 had us against the SoCal Storm.  The Storm game was VERY intense.  The game was tied 1-1 going into our at bat in the bottom of the sixth.  We put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.  Again, Ashlyn drove in a run and Natalie had a great slap hit over 3B for the insurance run.  After Storm loaded the bases with 1 out, Amanda induced a grounder for an out and she froze their leadoff hitter with a perfect 3-2 change to end the game.  That was FUN!!!

Game 5 had us against the Renegades (Margulies).  No excuses here but we ran out of gas.  The Renegades hit very well and they did in this game.  We again stranded a bunch of runners and couldn't get any momentum and they pulled away for the win.

The weekend could have gone alot worse and the girls played through a ton of adversity.

We look forward to getting Jill back in the lineup and tuning up for the National Qualifier and Utah.

See you Saturday for our Friendly where we welcome Bomb Squad, Academy, and Legacy.

Monday, May 26
Long layoff: No problem

Mystic started slow after 3 months off at the Batbuster friendly but really came together in going undefeated on the day.

Our pitchers were outstanding only giving up 2 runs in 3 games and after a slow start with the bats, they pounded out hit after hit in the afternoon.

Well done ladies and it was awfully fun getting back together on the field.

State's is only 2 weeks away...work hard.

Monday, April 21

A quick update of our girls in High School in their team colors. Things going well for our freshman.

Can't wait to get back on the field though...

Thursday, February 21
Mystic News and Notes

We played Rebels 16U on Saturday the 9th and swept both games.  Very solid day down at Point Loma High.

We then played 4 games against some good competition at the Renegades friendly and lost 1 game in a very tight battle with Victory  USA 2-1.  Very good test for us.

I'm very excited about our prospects this summer.  We've grown tremendously in our 3rd year of existence in going 43-8 this Fall and Winter and winning 2 tournaments.  The only losses have been against teams like Victory USA, Lakewood Ladies, OC Wildcats, and American Pastime.  All of which are at the very top of the heap when it comes to competing at the SoCal and National Level.  This is the level we're aspiring to and I believe we've gained a ton of respect as we've consistently been competitive in EVERY game we've played, everywhere we go.

It is a testament to our players, coaches, and parents that we continue to get better.  If we continue to practice hard and show up to games with the same intensity we've displayed along with the will to learn from our mistakes we can continue to progress.

We have a very busy Summer ahead of us.  We're going to compete at State's, goto the National Qualifier, potentially Regionals, and our main goal:  Midland and Nationals.

Represent at High School girls, let's have our freshman at Pt. Loma, UC, West Hills, Clairemont, Granite Hills, and Serra dominate over the next 3 months.

Keep checking back for Updates on how our girls are doing in HS.

Mystic played against Chaos 16U last night at their fields, under the lights. It was cold but our bats were HOT!!!

Both games were solid wins. Tiffany, way to come out of it! That was a bomb!

We play the Rebels 18U Saturday and then we finish our Winter season (team leaving for High School) on Sunday at the Renegades friendly.

Let's finish strong.

Then, we'll come back ready to gear up for the ASA Tournaments.

Mystic Hosts Calgary and More!

With the TCS Huntington Beach Tournament having been cancelled, Mystic was able to get a friendly at our fields put together in under 24 hours. We had 5 teams come down and play 3 games each.

Calgary Diamond Devils, Villa Park Vipers, Chaos (Arch), 3rd Degree (Kevin), and SD Legacy (Jami) all came to our fields and we had a great day. It stayed clear most of the day with the first rain drop coming down at about 5:30pm, just after we called the games.

It was such a success that we'll probably try and do this every year for Calgary. They don't have any teams to play near them in Canada so they have to travel to SoCal once a year in order to get games in.

Thanks for all the teams for coming down with such late notice. Check out the picture of our girls with the Canada girls. Good luck in the Canada Regionals this summer girls!

USSSA State
Monday, January 14
Mystic '93 Champions of USSSA 16U State Championships

Mystic went undefeated this weekend in the USSSA So Cal State Championships. We played up in the 16U division and played outstanding, giving up the fewest runs of any team. Pitching and Defense were the difference as the girls played really well after a 1 month layoff between games.

Congratulations ladies, you deserve the Trophies.

We have a couple friendlies and then we head to Huntington Beach along with over 100 teams to play our 3rd time in the Triple Crown Tournament.

Good luck and keep up the hard work.

Thursday, December 27
Mystic Finishes 3rd at Lakewood Ladies X-Mas Clash

Mystic played well in finishing 3rd at the Lakewood Ladies Tourament.  The Ladies Black team beat us in the Semi's.  That's an oustanding team.

We're practicing and playing friendlies as we prepare for USSSA State's and the TCS Hungtington Beach Tournament in January.

Happy Holidays all and we'll see you in 2008!

Border Madness 1st Place
Wednesday, November 7
Mystic CHAMPIONS of ASA Border Madness 2007

Mystic took First place this weekend in Yuma, AZ in the Border Madness Tournament. The girls simply played outstanding in going 6-0 and winning it all. The Championship game was a 13-0 final over BC Velocity.

Pitching, Defense, Hitting. All just top notch.

On a side note, our '94 team took 3rd so the Mystic Org. had a great showing.

Congratulations on all the hard work and a first place finish.

We're off to Quicksilver this weekend and then we'll be hosting in 2 weeks.

Keep up the great work.

Thursday, October 25
Mystic '93 Undefeated at SoCal Patriots Friendly

Mystic again played oustanding ball this past weekend in Brea.

We were very pleased to get Tiffany back from a broken ankle and she started well by driving in a run with a single in her very first Mystic AB.  Welcome back Tiff!

Our first 2 games were easy wins but we played the Corona Angels in the 3rd game and gave them 3 runs early with a bad inning.  We, however, came up huge the next inning with single, triple, triple, double, single, double, single.  NICE!!!

Now we have a welcome weekend off and then we're off to Yuma to play in AZASA's Border Madness Tournament.

Keep up the good work.

Wednesday, October 17
Mystic '93 Qualifies for Triple Crown World Series 2008!

Mystic had an outstanding showing in Bullhead City, Arizona this past weekend. We went 3-0 in pool and made the semifinals, finisishing 3rd.

Pool play had us against 2 of the top teams in AZ in the Cats and Hotshots. We beat the Cats 2-0 in game 1, solid pitching and defense was the name of the game.

Game 2 had us against the Hotshots and we pulled away with a 9-3 win. Tons of big hits and big plays.

Game 3 had us against the Heat and we cruised to a 10-0 win.

We were very impressed by the showing considering the late game times but the girls were up to the task.

Bracket Sunday had us having to win 2 games to finish in the top 4 and we started out very well run ruling our opponent 10-0.

Game 2 on Sunday had us playing a local team, the Rowdies. We had a 1-0 lead after 3 but the Rowdies scored 3 to go ahead 3-1. In what is becoming more common, our girls rallied with single, single, walk, double, double, single to take a 6-3 lead. It was an amazing comeback and very, very exciting to see. We shut them down in their last at bat and took the W. That put us against American Pastime in the Semifinals. After 5 straight games, we finally tired and lost 4-1.

It was a great weekend and we couldn't be prouder of our effort on the field.

Congratulations and keep up the good work ladies.

Tuesday, October 9
Mystic 3-0 at Desperados Friendly

I think you could call the Desperados friendly a success:

3 Games, 3 Wins, 0 Runs against.

That's right, we gave up no runs in three quality wins.

All 3 games had the same recipe we've seen for awhile now, stout pitching and defense and clutch hitting.

Game 1 had us up against the Sting '93 team which came in without a loss but we put 3 up early and coasted.  Game 2 saw us battle 3rd Degree.  While we started slow, we had a couple nice hits and coasted again.  Game 3 was our first battle against Powersurge where Cassidy and Jessica kept their bats down.  A big double play late sealed the deal.

Now we're off to Bullhead City, Arizona/Laughlin, Nevada to play in the Triple Crown Border Madness Tournament.

Hopefully we can continue to build.

Good luck ladies.

Keith

Tuesday, October 2
Mystic Undefeated at Powersurge 16U Friendly

Mystic played outstanding in the Powersurge 16U friendly.

In game 1, against the SoCal Breakers, we fell behind early 3-0.  The breakers were an older team that had outstanding pitching but we battled and our bats finally came alive and we had some great, clutch hits.  Saige hit a bomb, Vanessa and Nicole each had clutch line drive doubles to tie the game in our last at bat.  For a friendly, we could FEEL the intensity and our girls brought it.  Very nice.

Game 2 put us against the Mira Mesa Magic 16U team and Cassidy and Jessica shut them down.  Our bats stayed hot and we won 10-2.

Game 3 was against the American Athletics, this team took 5th at the TCS World Series last year.  We started slow but poured on the line drives and coasted in with a 9-3 victory.

Once again, Danielle, Amanda, Cassidy, and Jessica pitched solid and our defense was sound.  To see the bats come alive so dramatically was huge.

I'd like to welcome Alexis to the team.  All I can say is that for her very first softball games of her life, she was pretty amazing.  By the end of the day, she was crushing the ball and her catching was outstanding.

All in all, everyone did very well.

We're off to play the Desperados this weekend in OC so let's keep it rolling as we prepare for Bullhead City in 2 weeks.

Great job ladies.

Monday, September 24
Rock Steady Friendly

Mystic went 2-1 at the Rock Steady friendly. The only loss was a 3-2 squeaker that easily could have been won again with a clutch hit here or there. The other 2 games were blowouts as we gave up 5 runs total in 3 games. HIT, HIT, HIT, that's what we have to do consistently and this team can go a long way.

We made some nice plays and played solid for the most part all day.

Now, its off to the Powersurge 16U friendly on Sunday where we should really see what we're made of.

Good luck Ladies.

Monday, September 17
3rd Place at USSSA Fall Championship

Mystic '93 finished 3rd this weekend.  The team went undefeated in pool play to finish 1st.  We then had to play at 7am and run ruled our first opponent 13-0.  Unfortunately, that game didn't give us the challenge we needed to play OC Wildcats.  We had them 2-0 through 3 innings but gave up 3 late.  With some runners in scoring position all game, we just couldn't get the big hit to put the game away.

After 2 months, I like where we are.  We have the team to compete at a high level.  Also, once Tiffany gets healthy, I think we'll get that extra bat in the lineup that could put us over the top.

Again, Danielle pitched amazing and pulled the Hoffmanesque role as she came in and closed out 2 or 3 wins.

Oh yeah, Natalie pulled off a TRIPLE PLAY!!!!

Big League Dreams was awesome and they hosted a very nice tournament.

We're off to Fontana this weekend to play Rock Steady.

See you at the fields.

Keith

Sunday, September 9
Successful friendly

Both Mystic teams went undefeated at our friendly this weekend.  We saw some very good things after having such a long layoff.  Congratulations to our '94 team in going 3-0 in their first games ever together.  Very nice job.  Great job Glenn.

Thank you to all the teams that came to our fields.  It was a long day but alot of fun.

We're headed to Chino Hills this weekend for a USSSA Qualifier.  I think we're going to do well.

See you at the fields.

Sunday, September 2
Congratulations on Glenn's team!

Mystic 14U (Glenn) had their final tryout and landed the final pieces to the puzzle.  We now have an organization!  Welcome to the Mystic Family ladies and parents.

From the looks of things, we should be very solid this year.

Thanks to everyone that showed up.

Check back soon for Glenn's personal Mystic page.

Showcase by the Sea

From all accounts:  Travis from Triple Crown, Coaches, Families, and Players, our first annual Triple Crown Showcase by the Sea was a HUGE Success.  After 28 work hours combined over 2 days, the Mystic players and parents, along with help from Billy and the older Powersurge girls at one of our sites, we were able pull it off.  We also couldn't have done it without some Navy guys on field duty at Robb.  They did an oustanding job.

Thank you to all the teams and parents that made the trip to San Diego.  We had great weather and really couldn't have a more beautiful setting for a tournament.

From what I understand, there were several scholarships offered to girls at the all-star event Saturday night.  WOW!  That is very cool and I'm sure those parents are incredibly happy they attended the showcase.

Next year will be even bigger and Travis and TCS will be getting the ball rolling soon.

Please sign our guestbook and let us know of your experience.

Thanks again to our parents and everyone that helped put on a great event.

See you on the field.

Mystic (Glenn) Tryouts - Sept. 1

Please come by the Mt. Acadia fields on Saturday and try and land a spot on Glenn's roster.

If you haven't made a team, please come by our fields.

Friday, August 24
Welcome to the Family!

Mystic is proud to announce the addition of 3 players to our squad:

Tiffany joins us from 3rd Degree. She hurt her ankle late last season and she's just beginning rehab but we're excited to have her on our team. She's a great hitter and shortstop. Welcome Tiffany!

Cassidy joins us from Lightning. Cassidy came out to our first tryout and was diving ALL over the place. We look forward to her enthusiasm. Welcome Cassidy!

Jessica joins us from Legacy. Jessica also impressed the staff at our 2nd tryout being the first to finish several drills. It's this type of attitude and energy that we're looking for.

So, thank you ladies for joining our team. We really have high hopes for this season and expect nothing but 100% at all times.

We have our first tournament in 3 weeks in Chino Hills so we'll need to get cracking.

I'll have the practice schedule up shortly.

Thanks again everyone.

Keith

Mystic Update and Triple Crown Showcase

Mystic is very close to announcing 3 exciting new additions to our team/family.  We've had tremendous turnouts and some nice talent show up and we should be able to finalize our decisions any minute.  We couldn't be happier with our new girls and are very eagerly awaiting getting back on the field and preparing for what should shape up to be a solid season for us.

We'd like to thank everyone that showed up for our '93 and '94 tryouts and good luck to all of you.

Our Showcase by the Sea is this weekend and it will be a TON of work for us but well worth it as we will get to see where our girls will be in 4 or 5 years.  It should be fun to watch.

If you're not busy, please stop by our fields, Robb Field in OB, or Standley Middle School in UC and see some games.  Most of the mounds are at 43 feet so you'll be able to see the difference as the girls hit College.

Thanks and check back soon to find out who made the team!

Tryout Update

So our teams had another outstanding turnout at our 2nd tryout August 11.  Thank you to all the girls that have come out to be a part of our organization.

We're now pouring over them all and hope to get some committments soon.

If you have already tried out somewhere else and are still looking for a team, please contact me.

We have our Triple Crown Showcase in 2 weeks and its shaping up to be a solid Tournament.  Come back for updates and game times.

Thank you.

Saturday, August 4
Great turnout for tryouts Aug. 4th

We were blown away by the quantity and quality of players we had to our first tryout.  Thank you girls for coming out and trying to become part of the Mystic Organization.

Hope to see you all again next Saturday.

I would like to thank some of our players for participating as well.

Also, a BIG shout out to Sheri, Artie, Kim, Matt and anyone else that helped in the snack bar cleanup.  Our snackbar looks fantastic.  Can't wait to use it for the Showcase in 3 weeks.

See everybody next week.

Triple Crown World Series and Thanks

We made it home. After a welcome 11 day vacation in Beautiful Park City Utah, Mystic will have some time off for the summer.

We played well in Utah. We held the lead or were tied in every game through 4 or 5 innings but couldn't get enough clutch hits to do real damage. Once again, the pitching and fielding were top notch but our bats needed some help. A large shout out to Saige for hitting so well all week.

The game against the Las Vegas Stingers will be remembered for a long time. 2 ITB and a walkoff double in the bottom of the 9th to win it. THAT was fun! Nice hit Marissa!

I'd like to thank the girls, the parents, and the coaches for what could only qualify as a success in our first year. We are a young team and have some real softball players. It would not surprise me that every one of our kids starts on their Varsity team come February.

We've gained respect throughout the So Cal community and have met some really great people along the way: Terry with Lightning, Arch with Chaos, the guys with Quicksilver, the Renegades crew, the Girls from Classic Team Softball (thanks for the gifts) and all the other players, coaches and families we've come across. Travelball is where the real game is played and we can't get enough.

We're looking forward to tryouts in August and getting back on the field in September.

See you all on the fields.

The Mayor and Mystic News

Mystic would like to thank San Diego Mayor Sanders for coming to practice today. It was a pleasure speaking with him and having him say hi.

Mystic would also like to thank a few girls who are trying out to become our future 94 team. The girls did great and we look forward to seeing them at our next practice.

We play the 16U Bigshots tomorrow at our field and then we're off to Utah for Triple Crown World Series on Friday.

I have a feeling we're going to do good. We played the '92 Renegades this last weekend and played outstanding ball.

I'll try and update the site with news from Park City.

Good luck ladies.

Mystic Latest Info

Mystic has one final Tournament tuneup before Park City this weekend. We play 3 teams we haven't played before so it should be fun. Our pitching and defense has been outstanding so we'll need to keep our bats in order to do well. I expect us to play well as we look forward to Utah.

As a side note, the Mystic organization is adding a '94 team to the fold this fall and in 2008. We already are starting to get inquiries and I am very excited at the prospect of another team.

Keep playing solid ball girls and have fun.

Keith

Monday, June 11
ASA State Results

Friday, Menifee, CA: Mystic comes out swinging in going 2-0 to start ASA State's. We were playing on all cylinders in beating Sudden Impact Black 8-4 and So Cal Instinct 5-1 on Friday. The hits just kept coming as we started our first every ASA Tournament in grand fashion.

Saturday, however, things turned for the worse and we lost our 3rd game to Strikeforce. We just got shutdown. In our 4th game, we couldn't get the bats going again and lost to So Cal 3D to fall to 2-2 and be eliminated.

The girls played solid ball throughout though and can be very proud of their effort. We'll now gear up for Triple Crown and Western Nationals.

Thanks to ASA for putting on a great tournament in Menifee.

Our hats go off to the OC Wildcats, American Pastime, and the Firecrackers for qualifying for Nationals in Illinois.

See everyone at practice as we look to fine tune our game.

Mystic's State Draw

Just an FYI that Mystic pulled Sudden Impact Black in game 1 of the 2007 14U State Championships. Good luck to both teams as they try and qualify for Nationals.

Mystic Update

We've just completed a Powersurge Friendly and what amounted to a AAU Friendly this past weekend.

At the Powersurge Friendly we played well but had a couple innings where things went astray. We ended up going 2-1 but things could have been better.

At the "Memorial Tournament" we were without our 2 catchers on Saturday and we were without our 2nd Baseman, leadoff hitter, and another was very sick on Sunday. We played well again but had a few miscues in our first game on Saturday (finishing 2-1 in pool play) but got shut down by Force's #1 pitcher on Sunday. She pitched really well and dominated our bats. Gotta tip our hats to quality pitching.

All in all, not bad, but we still haven't been able to field our entire team for over a month...

We did add a new player, Kaeli, who is batting very well right now. Welcome to the team Kaeli.

We have a friendly this weekend and then we're off to State's on June 8...

Let's keep getting better!

Mystic En Fuego!

Mystic is ON FIRE!!!

We just got back from Hemet and the results were outstanding. We beat Synergy '93 4-2, Central Cal Dirt Dogs 6-3, and So Cal Showtime 7-1.

Synergy and the Dirt Dogs are great teams and great programs and for us to play the way we did proves that the hard work is paying off.

The Hemet results followed a 3-0 showing at the latest Lightning Friendly where we finally beat NC Force 4-3. (Force had had our number in beating us 1-0 and 2-1 in our last 2 games).

All I can say is that the team is playing solid softball.

The Pitching and defense were top notch.

Great job ladies!

Latest News

Mystic has played a few friendlies since the last update and things are going well. It's taken some time, but the hitting has definitely come around. MacKenzie has hit some absolute BOMBS in the last few friendlies. Vanessa, Jill, and Justine are roping. Amanda has had to pitch a LOT more lately and she's been doing fantastic.

Defensively, its hard to find any flaws.

We've got about 6 weeks until ASA State's and we still need to get a couple swings in order but I like our chances.

Keep up the good work girls.

Mystic Update

So we're back from vacation and feeling good. We took a nice 2 week break from softball and if our first practice and games were any indication, we should have a very successful summer.

We must welcome our newest teammate, MacKenzie. Kenzie brings a wealth of experience and a great attitude to our team. WELCOME KENZIE!!!!

We're heading to Hemet next weekend and we're looking for a top finish. Based on our success at Huntington Beach, we're ready.

Good luck ladies in Hemet.

MYSTIC QUALIFIES FOR TRIPLE CROWN WORLD SERIES!!!!

Mystic played they're best softball to date in finishing 5th to qualify for the Park City Triple Crown Championships in July.

We gave up 5 runs in our first 5 games, played an outstanding game in the round of 16 in beating a good Victory USA team 3-1, and then ran into a phenomenal Wildcats team in the quarterfinals.

We couldn't be prouder of our effort this weekend. Some SERIOUS defense was on display: Natalie made so many plays at 2B that I lost count, Danielle did not walk a single batter in 4+ games, and we had clutch hits all weekend.

What an awesome weekend in Huntington Beach.

Great job ladies. You deserve the qualification.

Mystic plays solid at USSSA State's, finishes 3rd.

Mystic had a quality tournament in our first tournament since October. We're still not 100% healthy and had a couple more injuries but as a whole, we played very solid ball in going 3-2 and losing to the eventual champions 2-1 in the Semi's.

Mystic finished 3rd.

It couldn't have been colder in Fallbrook but all the teams played very well.

The bats are coming around and we'll hopefully have a quality tournament in 2 weeks at the Triple Crown Huntington Beach Tournament.

Good job girls in placing 3rd.

Thank you to all that helped us get our fences up. Now, Coach Dave can get the equipment out of his truck!!!

Norwalk...brrrrrr(cold)....but.....we went 3-0!!!

After some challenges with the rain and mud, Mystic hit the fields at the So Cal Sting Friendly at Norwalk, CA, on Sunday the 10th.

Although only 3 or 4 girls are in their natural positions, we are still playing very well and the girls are learning a LOT of different postions (right Nicole? Vanessa?).

The bats have have stayed fairly consistent, the pitching is coming around and all in all, we've been playing well.

The girls are also really enjoying the game which is the most important thing.

They haven't lost a game in a while but with the tournaments they'll be playing in January and February, they will need to improve in a few areas to compete at the level we will expect.

A big thank you to Mary, Jasmine, and Kanoa from Sting for helping us play San Pedro in game 3! Thanks Girls!

See you all at the fields and at our Holiday Party.

Coaches.

Monday, December 4
Mystic goes 2-0-1 at Bomb Squad Black Friendly.

Mystic played through some major injuries this past Saturday en route to a 2-0-1 record in Whittier, CA at Bomb Squad Black's Friendly to support our troops. This was a great event as each player brought a gift for a member of our troops in Iraq. Thank you to Bomb Squad for hosting such a great event!

Mystic started out slowly against Bomb Squad Black after a 10 day layoff (the rust showed). The 7-7 tie would definitely been a win had we had our whole team intact. After falling behind late, we were able to get some clutch hits and tie the game in our last at bat.

We played The Firecrackers in game 2 and the bats came alive! We had several big hits and we played much better.

Our final game was under the lights against Anderson Heat. They had a very good pitcher but we were able pound out some hits and make our plays to get the victory.

I want to make clear that the girls overcame quite a bit of injuries to play so well.

Jill, our #1 Catcher, was out and Vanessa played 2 games behind the plate. These were Vanessa's first games at Catcher since 8U!!!! (Amanda finished the last game due to Vanessa's injury and did admirably). Great playing Vanessa!!!
Justine, who may have fractured her hand (wow!), was out, so Saige had to play all 3 games at 3B. Saige is our normal CF. Great job Saige.
Ally, who really should't be playing due to a sore hand, was forced into playing all 3 games in the OF. Ally, after such a long time off, looked good and even laid down a couple very nice bunts.
Lauren, who has played so great at 3B the last month, started game 2 but had to come out due to a back injury. She came back in game 3 at SS and seems to be okay.
Ashlyn, who hit SO great all day, took a ball directly on her hip bone but stayed in the game. Great night Ash.
Nicole, who was our backup catcher, played all 3 games with a dislocated finger. Way to suck it up Nicole!

The coaches are quite proud of your effort and the way you've overcome all of our injuries.

Great job.

Mystic Update

Mystic has been practicing and playing friendlies. Our last Friendly, North County Expreme, was very positive. We won 2 out of 3 and really started to hit the ball. We have 2 December Friendlies before embarking on 2 Triple Crown and 1 USSSA Tournament in January and February.

We also brought back Marissa from our 2005 Mystic Squad. Marissa brings a ton of softball experience to our team and helps out with our injuries.

Keep up the good work ladies!

Friday, November 3
Mystic Limping (literally)

FYI, Mystic 14U has had to take a few weeks to heal up our team. We've lost our Catcher, Third Baseman, Center Fielder, and Left Fielder all with some sort of nagging injury in the last couple weeks. We're still on the field practicing and staying in shape but we've had to pass on a couple tournaments.

We'll hit the ground running come Dec. 1 and play in as many friendlies as possible as we gear up for 2007.

We have 2 Tournaments in January (USSSA final Qualifier) and the TCS in Huntington Beach the last weekend in January.

Then the ASA season will begin and we'll gear up for State's and all the qualifiers that go along with it.

Bear with us as we heal up and come out strong in '07.

Keep checking the calendar!

Thank you,

Coach Keith

Mystic 14U Comes together and QUALIFIES at San Pedro USSSA

Mystic played some great softball this past weekend in QUALIFYING for the 2007 USSSA World Series in Orlando in our second ever tourament with this young team. San Pedro USSSA marked our 2nd tournament and WOW, what a big improvement from the girls.

We went 3-2 and lost to the eventual 1st place team 1-0 and the 2nd place team 2-1. We could have won both games with 1 or 2 clutch hits. Danielle pitcher her heart out and gave up 3 runs in 4+ games. It was an outstanding performance and we are excited to take the next step.

Let's keep up the hard work at practice, work on our mistakes and be ready for our next challenge.

Congratulations, your coaching staff is very proud of your effort.

Results of Ozone friendly

Mystic goes 2-1 at Ozone friendly. Mystic bats come alive first two games, but died quickly for last. We continue to grow by leaps and bounds every game we play.

Ozone Frieindly this Saturday

We play 3 Games Saturday in Oceanside. First game at 8am. See you there.

Mystic performs at high level at Triple Crown

Mystic grows by leaps and bounds in first ever Travel Tournament with 2006 Roster. Two things we learned:

1) Mystic plays as good a defense as any team there is. Saige had a couple throw outs at home; Vanessa played STELLAR Short; Riley and Jill had solid defense behind the plate; Amanda and Taylor played flawless 1B, Natalie made some big catches in RF; Marissa and Danielle fielded the mound like savvy vets; Nicole played great in LF (how about that relay to gun the girl at 3rd); and Casey played her normal unconscious 3B.

2) Hitting is the difference. We pitched well enough in every single game to win with not a single team scoring more than 4 runs off our pitchers. That amounts to great pitching and it amounts to great games that ALL could have been WON with a key hit in a key situation.

Bottom line, we learned that these kids can compete and are READY to compete at the highest level. Let's get the bats going!!!!

We'll see you at practice.
