McALLEN – Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo will attempt to mine the Rio Grande Valley for prospects with the expansion of its player development program to McAllen.
In a press conference held Tuesday in McAllen, James Clarkson, Director of Youth and Development for the Houston Dynamo, announced the creation of the Dynamo Juniors which will train and play in McAllen and be a part of the Houston Dynamo feeder system for elite players.
Founded in 2007, the Dynamo player development system aims to recruit youths ages eight and up and offer them an avenue to pursue playing soccer professionally. In previous years the youth teams have travelled to Europe, Mexico, El Salvador and Bolivia and have faced elite competition such as Chivas, Real Madrid and National teams from Japan and Venezuela, yesterday the Dynamo launched a club in McAllen that will give that same opportunity to 26 kids from the Rio Grande Valley.
Dynamo Juniors Affiliate Program helps children become not only better players, but better people as well. It's a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition, and sportsmanship. We match children in groups that are not only similar in age, but have similar abilities as well.

Albert Flores, head coach, stated "What a great achievement for these young ladies. It's always a difficult place to come and win one game, never mind four in Houston, but the girls have been working hard and their efforts have paid off. They played very well over the two days.
