The Houston Dynamo Academy kicked off the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup on Sunday and got off to a rough start, losing all three games they played. The Academy U-16s, who are competing in the U-17 bracket, fell 4-2 to UAE Precor, a youth team from the United Arab Emirates. Midfielder Carlos Ibarra picked up a red card in the 10th minute and the Dynamo found themselves in a 2-0 hole after the 30-minute mark. The squad regrouped in the second half behind goals from Bryan Salazar and Elochukwu Ozumba, but the defense could not keep UAE Precor off the board. Edgar Garibay scored in the 68th minute and Tim Ruhrseitz scored off a free kick in the 73rd minute to give the Middle Eastern side the opening match victory. |

DYNAMO CAMP 2012 JULY 23-27 LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL SOCCER COMPLEX 2001 FERN AVECAMP INCLUDES:OFFICIAL HOUSTON DYNAMO CAMP TSHIRT, HOUSTON DYNAMO SOCCER BALL, INDIVIDUAL PLAYER EVALUATION, DYNAMO GAME VOUCHER Dynamo Youth Camp Dynamo Youth Soccer Camps offer a one-of-a-kind age appropriate and skill specific curriculum in a fun and friendly environment. Camp features five days of training led by the Dynamo’s nationally licensed coaches. Players must be between the ages of 3–8 years old. BOYS AND GIRLS 3-4 YEARS OLD 9:00AM-10:00AM $100.00BOYS AND GIRLS 5-8 YEARS OLD 9:00AM-11:00AM $130.00 Dynamo Elite Camp The Elite Camp is the main source of identification and recruitment for the Dynamo Academy. The Camp curriculum and training will be based on technique & tactical development. Players will also play a number of small sided games and 11 v 11 throughout the week. Each player will be evaluated by Dynamo coaching staff and successful players will be invited to join Dynamo Jrs teams. Players must be between the ages of 9 –17 and need to be competitive soccer players of the highest caliber. We are only looking for the best players in South Texas to represent the Dynamo Academy. South Texas teams to compete in prestigious Dallas Cup tournament
April 01, 2012 Alex E. Pena Special to The MonitorTed Nonov remembers his time as a 13-year-old enrolled at Monterrey C.F.’s youth soccer academy and seeking the advice of the older players. Like any other kid, he’d dream of making it big. Now, a 19-year old graduate from McAllen High, Nonov reflects on those many experiences as his Under 19 Houston Dynamo South Texas Academy squad opens play in the prestigious Dallas Cup today. The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club founded the tournament and it was originally a way for the club to return the friendship shown to their teams that had traveled throughout Europe. When applying for the first tournament’s sanction it was called “The Texas Cup”. As this name was already in use by another organization the name “Dallas Cup” was selected by the tournament organizers. Since its inception in 1980, Dallas Cup has played host to teams and referees from over 45 states, 100 countries and 6 continents. The tournament is held every spring from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. |

As you may well know MYSA/Dynamo did a spring fundraiser in February. We had a fun run called Run for Jay at De Leon soccer fields to help Jason Rhyne who is recovering from bladder cancer. The run was very successful and we had many participants out there showing their support. Thank you to all who helped make this a success.

OLLU soccer's Octavio Herrera and Gary Hamilton Jr named to 'Men's All-Conference First Team' by Patricia Constantin
WACO, TEXAS (Nov. 11, 2011) -- The Red River Athletic Conference announced today the members of the 2011 Red River Athletic Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference Team as voted by the conference's head coaches.
Our Lady of the Lake University's Gary Hamilton and Octavio Herrera were named to the All-Conference First Team. Hamilton is a senior defender from Middlesbrough, England and the captain of the team. Herrera is a junior defender from Harlingen, Texas. To read full article click on link below:

OLLU's Bazan and Hamilton named to the 'Capital One Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team' by Patricia Constantin
SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 4, 2011) -- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has received noticed that David Bazan and Gary Hamilton Jr have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Nominations for the awards are submitted by members of the association. News and Sports Information Officer Patty Constantin represents OLLU in the association. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at their positions. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.Hamilton and Bazan are captains of the Saints' team this year. Hamilton is a native of Middlesbrough, England, and lives in McAllen, Texas. He is majoring in Biology at OLLU. Bazan is from Harlingen, Texas, and is also majoring in Biology. Both student-athletes are seniors this year. |
