It's with a heavy heart that the MYFL board must announce the passing of the Rebels JR's Football Team Head Coach Steve Smith! Mr. Smith will be missed by many and this league will miss him as well. Mr. Smith passed away after complications with surgery for a heart condition. Steve was voted in recently as Head Coach of the Rebels Junior Team as well as having been a Rebels Coach many years ago. It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know him and his wife Coco. Our prayers go out to his wife and family/friends as we all have lost a good man, coach and husband.

Click on Register link on the Rebels website and click on the link at the bottom to access the online registration. You must agree to the MYFL Rebels Code of Conduct to proceed with your registration. You can also register more than one child as you go through the process of registration it will give you the choice to register a second child.

Introducing Your 2012 Mechanicsville Rebels Family Cookbook.

Dig out the cooks books and blow the dust off those recipe cards - we are starting to collect your family favorites for our very first Mechanicsville Rebel Cookbook. We are starting to accept all recipes now through October 1^st 2012, with no limits to how many recipes you want to submit. We are accepting them by snail mail or email, please note that if you choose to email them to us they must be in a Word Document or if mailing or hand delivering the recipes they need to be on 8 Yi x 11 paper. The recipes should have your name, child's name or team name and only 1 recipe per page.

Our goal is to have these cookbooks done and out before Christmas.

Announcement from the MYFL Board of Directors

March 7, 2012

On February 20, 2012 the board of directors voted to move the 2 Metro JV teams into the Gridiron league.  This decision was made for many different reasons and with the intention that this move would help the league grow and prosper.  The board looked at the league as a whole and felt that this move would make the Rebels competitive in both the Metro league and the Gridiron league.  We stand by this decision still today however we do acknowledge that there a valid concerns with how this would affect the cheering program.  With that being said the board has decided to reverse the recent decision.  This means that the 2 JV teams will remain in Metro for the 2012 Football season.  We will still be implementing a drafting system similar to the one that was outlined in the parent informational meeting on March 5^th 2012.  The cheer program will remain completely intact however we may add one or two gridiron home games to the cheer schedule.

As you already know, it takes many individual and group efforts to maintain and keep the league running efficiently and effectively. The volunteer efforts are the heart of MYFL and ensures its success. These volunteers act in a variety of roles year round and are the league’s most valuable resource.  Your support and commitment as team reps, board members, coaches, team moms or dads are greatly appreciated and very much needed for the league to thrive so please accept our thanks and know that what you all did for the league during the 2011 football season made a difference.   We hope to see you all back next season if not in the same capacity then maybe in another J Have a great day! Thank You.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new 2012 board members.  We lost 3 great board members this year and we are sad to see them leave but we were very fortunate to have found 3 wonderful, dedicated individuals who we all feel will be great additions to the board.    Here is the 2012 Board of Directors:

NO ELECTIONS WERE HELD DUE TO THE FACT THAT NO RETURNING BOARD MEMBERS OR NEW BOARD MEMBERS POSITIONS WERE CONTESTED.

Every December the league members

vote on the Board of Directors for the upcoming year. The Board of Directors is composed of the following thirteen officers:

Cheering Director,

Ways and Means Director, 

Field & Equipment Manager,

Assistant Field & Equipment Manager,

Metro Representative,

Assistant Metro Representative,

There are many ways to help the Rebel Football & Cheering League. If you are intrested in helping the league. Please contact any Rebels Board member for further details!

The future of the league depends on volunteers willing to step up and become a part of the exciting changes occurring yearly at Mechanicsville Youth Football League! 

We’d like to also thank all of the volunteers who served on the 2011 Board Of Directors for doing such a great job last year!

All Rebel Football players (ONLY FOOTBALL) MUST HAVE A DMV ID to play for the Rebels in 2011. Metro/Gridiron!!!!!

"ATTENTION REBEL PARENTS"

Please Bring Your your child/children DMV cards on your equipment night either Aug. 1st, 2nd or 3rd! The MYFL Board will hold them until Aug. 25th 2011.

 "NOTICE TO YOU THE PARENT"

YOU MUST BRING TO ALL HOME GAMES AND AWAY GAMES YOUR CHILDS DMV CARD FOR CHECKIN DURING THE HALFTIME OF THE GAME BEFORE YOUR GAME! IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR DMV CARD/S YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY IN THE GAME!!!

The DMV ID Cards must be given to the MYFL Board until registration to Metro. The DMV Cards will be given back to the parents and it will be the parents responsibility to bring your child/childrens DMV ID's to all games in order to prove your childs age. If you forget your childs/childrens DMV ID Cards. Your child/children will not be able to play in his or her game.

It is the MYFL League Policy that ALL MYFL Board Members, Coaches/Assistants and TeamReps / Team Moms 

Must agree to and pay for a Virginia State Police Criminal Background Check in order to be a MYFL Board Member, Coach or Team Rep and Team Mom. Costs are $8.00 dollars and the background check must be handled through the MYFL Board of Directors. This is mandatory as of Jan. 1st, 2011. The Criminal Background Checks will be destroyed by the MYFL Board of Directors after they have been approved. NO ONE outside the Board of Directors of the MYFL shall have access except the President and/or Vice President of said year. Anyone who unlawfully discloses any private criminal background information outside the MYFL Board will be held liable for all damages to said person. This information is for MYFL Board of Directors use ONLY!
