The purpose of the Michigan Women’s Lacrosse Officials Association (MWLOA) is to provide competent, certified US Lacrosse women’s lacrosse officials who will safely and efficiently officiate games at all levels. We actively recruit, train and retain officials for lacrosse throughout Michigan for the following skill levels:
Elementary and middle school programs
High school JV and Varsity teams
Division I, II and III college programs
Indoor and summer leagues
Established in 1999, MWLOA currently has more than 50 members throughout Michigan.
About MWLOA membership: We have one mandatory association meeting per year, usually held in late January or February. We meet to discuss and vote on business issues, bylaw changes and to re-acquaint ourselves after a long off-season. During the pre-season, we conduct training sessions for new officials. Current member officials are welcome to attend these events.
About our sport: Women's lacrosse is a high energy sport played primarily in the spring that resembles a combination of basketball and ice hockey. Athletes use a lacrosse stick, also called a crosse, to throw, catch, pick up the ball and shoot on goal. For more information about the history of lacrosse or to learn more about the rules go to the web site of our governing organization, www.uslacrosse.org.
