Mockingbird Girls '92: State Cup 2010
Monday, May 31Scouting Report - Championship Weekend 2010
With group play completed, the four semifinalists have been decided and will meet next weekend at Lovers Lane fields in Bowling Green to determine the 2010 State Champion. Mockingbird has won Group A ; Owensboro United tops Group B while Central Kentucky SC was victorious in Group C on goal differential over Javanon. Javanon earned the wildcard and will be our opponent in the semifinals.
Javanon 92
Really not much to say here, we know this team well, besides half the current Mockingbird team used to play for Javanon 92 
. The teams have played 14 times over the years with the last two in State Cup play. In 2005, Mockingbird dropped a 0-1 match in the semifinals while they defeated Javanon by the same score in group play in 2007. That match decided a trip to the semifinals. Here's the most recent five matches.

The other semifinal will be CKSC versus Owensboro United. I would be very surprised if CKSC did not prevail. If Mockingbird has a successful outing against Javanon they will meet one of these two teams for a chance at their fifth straight state championship.
Central Kentucky SC Lightning
These two teams have met five times over the years but the last was as U12's!! With all the roster changes at both teams over the years the history is meaningless but here it is anyway.

State Cup 2010 - Entries
Ten U-18 Girls teams have entered the 2010 Kentucky State Cup. Entries closed April 1 at 5:00pm. I would guess there will be two, five team pools that will play four games in group play on Memorial Day weekend. There would then be a finals match the following Sunday between the two group winners. Possibly they also could go to a format with 3,3 and 4 team pools with a wildcard. In this case pool play would lead to the usual semi's on Saturday, finals on Sunday schedule. Here's the link to all the entries. Scroll to the bottom for U-18 Girls entries.

State Cup 2010 - General
I will attempt to put together all State Cup related information on this page. Click on the link above to get to the tournament web site.
The Preliminary Rounds will be Memorial Day weekend ... May 29, 30 and 31. Preliminaries will be at Masterson Station Fields in Lexington, same as last year.
Finals will be the following weekend --- June 5 and 6 at Lovers Lane Fields in Bowling Green.
Wednesday, April 7
State Cup 2010 - Brackets
Brackets have been drawn. Groups A and B consist of three teams while Group C has four. Winners of the three groups and one wildcard will advance to the semifinals. As last year's champion we are the number 1 seed in Group A. Group A consists of Mockingbird, LSC and Kentucky Rush. I assume we'll have a cross over game with Group B which should be Owensboro United.
If the girls get through the preliminaries, they will play the wildcard in the semifinals assuming it isn't one of the Group A teams. In that case I assume they would play the winner of Group C, likely to be Javanon.
Finals will be the winner of the Group A vs Wildcard semifinals against the Group B / Group C winner which would most likely be KSA Elite versus Javanon with Owensboro United and Bluegrass SC as darkhorses. More likely one of those two will be the wildcard.
