When is the season?
Practices begin Aug.1st , 2006. The regular season starts in early September and runs through mid November. Post-season competition can run into mid December.

When is practice?
During the month of August, your child will practice up to five (5) days a week (Monday-Friday. It is mandatory that your child(ren) attend all conditioning practices during this period of time. Come September, practices will be 3 days a week.

Is my child required to travel to other fields?
Yes. Our home games are at Alta Murrieta Sports Park, however you will have away games. The Palomar Conference teams we compete against are located in Poway, Rancho Penasquitos, San Marcos, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Dieguito, Torrey Pines, Escondido, Temecula, Fallbrook, Valley Center, Ramona and Rancho Bernardo.

Will we travel outside of So. Cal?
Yes, this is very possibe! MVPW sent teams to Regional Championships in El Centro and to the National Championships in Orlando, FL in 2004

What is the Little Scholars Program?
Pop Warner recongizes that our children must excel in school as well as on the field. See our "Little Scholars" link for more info.

What if my child has other commitments during practices?
When your child misses a practice it will affect the entire team. If at all possible, do not schedule other activities during practice and game times.

Does my child need a sports physical?
Yes. Pop Warner requires every participant to have a physical before the start of the season. This means you child cannot practice even on the first day without it. You may obtain a physical through your child's doctor, clinic or during our scheduled physical date.

How can I help since I am at the field already?

We need COACHES to VOLUNTEER!
Without coaches we won't have teams to put Cheer or Football on! We would hate to turn your children away because YOU would not volunteer to help!
CHEER:
Head Coach(must be at least 21)
Assistant Coaches(must be at least 18)
Coach Trainee(can have one per team, must be 16 or 17 by July 31)

Other volunteer positions:
Team Mom(s)
Business Manager
Equipment Manager
Conditioning coach
Assistants to any of the above positions
Stunting coach
Student demonstrators (must be at least 15)

Student demonstrators remember this is a fun way to earn your community service hours for graduation!

It takes a large number of people behind the scenes to ensure our program operates smoothly.

You can volunteer to help work in our Snack Bar or on the fields helping to set up or tear down.
We need your help.  Call 951-304-2404

Why must we submit our child's report card?
Pop Warner has always considered school more important than sports. We must ensure that your child is doing well enough in school so that football or cheer does not interfere. For more information regarding the Scholars program see the link at the top of the page.

SCHOLASTIC FITNESS: THE NATIONAL POLICY
Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. In cases of doubt or conflict of opinion, a written statement by the school administration shall be deemed final. NOTE: This rule as it relates to scholastic grades may not be made more stringent by any team, association, or league, as other rules may be. No local team/squad may be eligible to participate in league championships and/or bowl games if it has not met the nationally published scholastic

Why do I have to submit a copy of my child's birth record?
The Pop Warner program matches kids on teams of similar ages and weight for safety reason.

What about our family vacation we take every August?
August is a full month of conditioning and learning. All players and cheerleaders must make the commitment to be at all practices and games. Practice occurs 5 days a week for the tackle level programs and 3 days a week for the flag level program.  Your child MUST accumulate 40 hours of conditioning BEFORE participating in any games, so please ensure that he/she attends every practice in August.

What if my son cannot make it to Certification Day ?
Or if they don't make weight? If they do not make weight for their division by certification day they could go to the next division, up or down depending on the division requirements IF there is a slot open. Otherwise they will be dropped from the program and refunded according to refund guidelines. Once a player does pass certification day they will be required to be weighed prior to each game. Any game that they do not make weight the player will be required to sit out and will not be able to play in that one game. Starting with the 2nd game players are allowed to gain one pound a week for a total of 9 pounds during the season.

What if my child does not have a 2.0/70% GPA?
We understand that not all student-athletes are able to meet our scholastic requirements. If a child does not meet the requirements of scholastic fitness, he/she may fill out and submit a Scholastic Eligibility Form which is to be signed by a school administrator stating that the child will benefit from participating in the Pop Warner Program. It is the discretion of the school administrator as to whether or not the student would benefit from participating in Pop Warner. This form allows us to monitor the progress of the child so that they maintain a minimum standard and understand the value of academics in conjunction with athletics.

Is the equipment safe?
Every effort is taken to protect our children while playing the sport of football but there will be occasions where there are injuries beyond our control. All helmets are certified prior to their use and if they do not pass the certification process they will not be used in our league. All players are given the proper equipment to use while in our league. The board takes every measure possible to ensure the safety of our equipment and to purchase the best equipment possible to protect our children.

Do I need to buy my own equipment and uniforms?
The Football equipment and uniforms are furnished with the exception of football cleats and athletic supporter. We furnish the helmet, practice jersey and pants, game day jersey and pants, shoulder pads and belt. An additional $25.00 youth pack must be purchased, which includes: Mouth piece, hip pads, knee pads, thigh pads and girdle, this is yours to keep.  All other equipment must be returned to the league except for the socks and the game day jersey which are the players to keep.

The Cheer outfit is furnished with the exception of uniform, shoes, socks, liner, briefs. We furnish camp shorts, camp shirt & hairbow.

Do I have to work in the Snack Bar?
Yes!  Our league is run entirely by volunteers who are already working to ensure a successful program.  Rostered volunteers can not be working in the Snack Bar if they are to be on the field coaching your child.  The Snack Bar only works with parental help.  Rostered volunteers are on the field everyday with your child for 2 hours  We are only asking that you work the Snack Bar for 2 hours during your teams assigned practice week and any home games.
You will be charged $25.00 for failure to show up during your scheduled time.

Bounced Check Fee
All returned checks are subject to a $25.00 service charge.
