2009-2010 TRYOUT INFORMATION
Tryouts will be held on Sunday, December 6th and 13th at Lowell Catholic High School (530 Stevens Street, Lowell MA). Please attend both tryouts.
There is a $75 (non-refundable) tryout fee payable to “MVJ”. Try-out fee covers NERVA membership, tryout t-shirt, gym facilities and coaching costs. All athletes must be registered with NERVA prior to attending any tryout. Please see the Merrimack Valley Juniors website www.eteamz.com/MVJ to download and print all required try-out forms. All forms must be filled out with appropriate signatures in order to be eligible to tryout! PROGRAM INFORMATION
The season consists of 12 practice weeks and 5 all-day tournaments. The five all-day tournaments are held across New England, in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Locations to tournaments will be posted on the MVJ website one week prior to the tournament. All players must supply their own transportation to and from all practices and tournaments. Players are responsible for their own hotel, travel and meal fees.
Using the tryout ratings, players will be placed into teams by age level (18U, 17U, 16U, 15U, 14U, 12U), by approximate skill level, limiting the teams to a total of ten players. Placing players who are from the same school or town onto the same team to facilitate carpools will be considered, provided that their strengths and/or positions will fit on those teams. Please contact the director via email with requests. Teams will be entered into tournaments based on their age and skill level.
- The 2010 NERVA Open Qualifiers are: January 24 (16U) and January 31 (18U). There is an additional cost for this tournament.
- The Mizuno Winterfest is being held at the CT Convention Center in Hartford on MLK weekend: January 16-18. Please let me know if your team is interested in competing in this tournament. There is an additional cost for this tournament.
- The 2010 NERVA Club tournament dates are: March 7, 21; April 11, 25*; May 2.
Two-hour practices will be held on Sundays at Lowell Catholic High School or Chelmsford High School. The practice dates are: January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7, 14*, 21*, 28; March 14, 28; April 18*. There will be no practice on Easter Sunday, April 4. *Players will be expected to attend Sunday practices & tournaments during school vacation weeks.
The cost for the program is $350, payable to “MVJ” by the first practice January 3rd, 2010. The program cost includes 12 practice weeks, 5 all-day tournaments, uniform (t-shirt, spandex, socks), USAV referee training, gym facilities and certified coaching staff.
