RESULTS POSTED FOR ALL TRIALS AND FINALS - CLICK ON 2010 RESULTS

Jr Kaeli Hancock leaves the rest of the 4X400 field behind as Monte Vista runs a stellar 4:01.9 time to take 1st place. Sophs Rachel Call, Mikaela Hammitt and Hailey Perkins precede Hancock to form the winning team.

Jr Cameron Coutermarsh runs 22.56 in the 200 meters at the EBAL Championships
Congrats to ALL the Monte Vista Track and Field athletes who participated in this great 3 day event. Many individual PR's were set over the course of this meet. The Stangs were well represented in the finals held on Saturday, which gave the team a solid chance to compete for the team titles.
Showing amazing depth, the Frosh Soph Girls finished as the EBAL Champions, edging Carondelet by winning the 4X400 relay at the end of the meet! The final point total was:
Monte Vista: 107.5
Carondelet: 102.5
San Ramon Valley: 86

Frosh Elena Smith scores 20 pts for the Frosh/Soph team by winning the
1600 on Saturday (above) and the 3200 on the previous Weds!
Frosh Soph Boys take 3rd place today, behind some exceptional results in the field events coupled with solid track times.

Danyal Kamal opens up a gap in the FSB 4X400 relay!
Varsity Girls also had balanced scoring today, especially in the jumps, hurdles, mid-distance and relays. Cal HS ends all doubt as to the league title, dominating the field today. MV, SRV and CHS are close for second all day, with the Mustangs eding CHS by winning the 4X400 relay, falling just 2pts short of SRV for second.

Varsity Boys have some stellar performances from Burke and Coutermarsh today, but the young team simply could not keep pace with the top teams from the league. Still, many Varsity Boys advance to the next round of NCS Tri Valley.

EBAL DUAL MEET #7 VS SRV 5-6-10
The EBAL dual meet season concluded today with the Mustangs hosting cross-town rival San Ramon Valley HS. This is a long, storied rivalry, and today's competition didn't disappoint fans looking for fast times, huge field marks, and great competition!
On the girls side, the varsity meet went back and forth throughout the day, with neither team able to pull away from the other. Surprise wins for the Stangs in one area were countered by spirited performances by the Lady Wolves in another. In the end, the Mustangs were able to overtake SRV for a 70-66 victory, to complete the EBAL season at 6-1 heading into the Championship meet.
Highlights for the Lady Stangs today:
- Jr Kaeli Hancock wins the 100 and 300 Hurdles, takes 2nd in the 400 and anchors the winning 4X400 relay!
- Soph Mikaela Hammitt returns to form winning the 800 in 2:22
- Mel Rosenberg once again wins both the Long and Triple Jumps
- MV sweeps the High Jump with Maddie Thornton winning, Ingram and Ashton tied for 2nd
- 4X400 Relay runs an outstanding 4:01 time to take a hotly contested race
- Johnson, Cook, Swanson, Swinnerton, Lawson and Vujovich have huge PR's to earn valuable points, Aha has two seconds, Smith, Abood also score points.
On the boys side, San Ramon unleashed a flurry of Section and even State leading marks to totally dominate the Stangs today with a 23-113 win. Monte Vista finishes the EBAL dual meet season at 3-4. Sr Stephen Burke is the only Monte Vista event winner today, capturing the Shot Put with a 51'9" effort. Jr Cameron Coutermarsh's 2nd place in the 200, in a PR of 22.78, is the highest placing performance on the track today.

4/29/10: GIRLS HOLD OFF THE COUGARS TODAY, WINNING THEIR 5TH MEET BY TAKING THE 4X400 AT THE END: 73-63. GIRLS NOW 5-1 HEADING INTO THE SRV MEET. BOYS CAN NOT OVERCOME DE LA SALLE'S DEPTH DESPITE SEVERAL STRONG PERFORMANCES, DROP A 48-88 DECISION TO FALL TO 3-3.

Dane Turner, Gabe Ribeiro, Cameron Coutermarsh and Christian Anderson run a season's best 44.39
in the 4X100 at the Phillips McCain Invitational 4/24/10.
Record day for the Mustangs, as the team emerges as the top overall school at this annual event. With perfect weather conditions, and great hosts (Miramonte and Campolindo), the talented and sizeable MV squad ended up with two first places (Varsity Girls and FS Boys) and two second places (Varsity Boys and FS Girls) to beat 2nd place San Ramon Valley (one first, two seconds, one third).
With the season heading into the league finals, this meet was a perfect tune up for the Stangs! Full results, including team scores, are in the handouts below.

4/22/10 EBAL DUAL MEET VS LIVERMORE:
BOTH TEAMS COME OUT ON TOP TODAY! GIRLS ROLL TO A SURPRISING 86-49 VICTORY TO IMPROVE TO 4-1 AND KEEP THEIR LEAGUE TITLE HOPES ALIVE! BOYS TURN BACK A TOUGH LHS SQUAD 72-64 TO MOVE TO 3-2 IN THE EBAL.

Varsity Highlights
Girls:
Aha (1600/3200), Hancock (100HH/300IH) and Rosenberg (LJ/TJ) each win two events today to help pace the Lady Stangs. Both 4X100 (Call, Rondoni, Cook, Johnson) and 4X400 (Call, Perkins, Anderson, Hancock) relays win in season leading times. Johnson (13.09) and Cook (13.14) take 1-2 in the 100 in season PR's. Anderson & Perkins 1-2 in the 800. Mustangs win 10 of 16 events, take 10 of 16 2nds as well. Hancock, Ashton and Ingram again sweep the 300 hurdles!
Boys:
Coutermarsh is a double winner in the 100 and 200 in PR times (11.31/22.78). Balanced effort helps pace the Mustangs as Kot, Killick, Burke, Dalton, Wenig and Shackleton each win their events. 4X100 relay is also victorious (Turner, Ribeiro, Anderson & Coutermarsh).

EBAL DUAL MEET #4 - AT CAL HIGH SCHOOL
4/15/10 VS CAL HS: BOYS TURN BACK CAL 71-65 AS THE MEET COMES DOWN TO THE 4X400 RELAY... THAT MV HANGS ON TO WIN!!! BOYS NOW 2-2 ON THE SEASON.
GIRLS TEAM CAN'T OVERCOME CAL'S TOP SCORERS, DROP THEIR FIRST LEAGUE MEET 57-79. GIRLS STILL 3-1 IN LEAGUE !
Boys hold off Cal High today with a balanced scoring effort. The meet isn't decided until the 4X400 relay. With the meet on the line, Brandon Wu, Cameron Coutermarsh, Elliott Killick and Kevin Garrick hold off Cal in an exciting finish to give MV the win and even the boys EBAL record at 2-2.
Girls lose their first league meet of the season, as Cal's key point scorers come through to hold off the Stangs. Many strong performances today however, and the Girls are still 3-1 in the EBAL and look to settle the score with Cal at the EBAL Championships!

EBAL DUAL MEET #3: MV VS GRANADA 4-1-10
4/1/10: GIRLS CONTINUE TO ROLL, BOYS DROP TOUGH CONTEST AT GRANADA!
- Varsity Girls score 82 points for their third consecutive win (82-54)
- Varsity Boys keep it close before dropping to a 57-79 loss.
Mustangs battle both Granada and the cold in a classic EBAL match up. The Girls Varsity team continues to roll along, improving to 3-0 in the EBAL with a 82-54 win. The Boys team stays close until the end, dropping a tough 57-79 decision. The Boys are now 1-2 in the league.

Note: Sr Will Ratcliff continues to recover in a local hospital. He goes in for surgery during the weekend. Please keep Will in your thoughts and lets wish him a quick recovery!

MUSTANGS HOST FOOTHILL - ALL SQUADS PICK UP THE "W" TODAY!
3/25/10: BOTH MUSTANG SQUADS BLOW BY FOOTHILL TODAY!
- Varsity Girls now 2-0 in league with a solid 87-49 win
- Varsity Boys even their record at 1-1 after a 81-55 victory

Check it out! Dane Turner soars to a 21' 1" PR against Foothill!
The first home meet of the EBAL season saw the Mustangs ready to get after it against the Foothill Falcons. With cool but dry conditions, many Mustangs had PR performances to turn back Foothill in both Varisty and Frosh Soph divisions today.
After dropping the 4X100 and 1600 meters, the Varsity girls stormed back from the 12 point deficit to win going away: 87-49, to move to 2-0 on the season. Highlights included double event winners Kaeli Hancock (100 & 300 Hurdles), Mackenzie Johnson (100, 200), Mel Rosenberg (LJ, TJ). Other winners for the Stangs were: Haley Perkins (400), Nicole Aha (800), Amy Ingram (3200), Lauren Vujovich (HJ) and the 4X400 team (Call, Woods, Robertson & Johnson).
The Varsity Boys started the other way around, winning the 4X100 relay (Coutermarsh, Anderson, Turner, Wenig) and sweeping the 1600 (Matulionis, Smiley, Balke) to start the meet 14-0. The guys never looked back, cruising to a 81-55 margin and evening their league record at 1-1. Other event winners include: Kot (300IH), 4X400 relay (Garrick, Coutermarsh, Killick, Wu), Burke (SP), Pineda (Discus), Turner (LJ - 21'1" PR mark!) and Wenig (HJ).

VAULTERS AT CASTRO VALLEY - DMR'S AT DUBLIN DISTANCE FIESTA
Frosh/Soph and Varsity Vaulters participate in the PV "Relay" at the Castro Valley Invite on Friday March 19th and Saturday March 20th. Combined marks determine the team winners. The report from Coach Dan Graham:
The kids did great.
F/S BOYS A & B team tied for 1st place anjo 2nd place overall Heller 3rd place overall
F/S GIRLS 2nd place as a team Carley 3rd overall
B-VAR A team 1ST place B team 4TH overall Sean 2ND place Dakota 3rd
G-Var 2nd place as a team
Next year we should bring the whole MV team. We would clean up the medals as a whole team.

Boys and Girls Distance Medley Relays traveled to nearby Dublin High School for the Distance Fiesta! Both squads run season PR's in an attempt to qualify for future meets. Girls run 12:54.00 to finish a strong 3rd. Kimmy Abood (1200), Meghan Yap (400), Jill Anderson (800) and Nicole Aha (1600) form the squad.
Boys also run with the leaders behind stong individual performances, run a hot 10:37 time. Josh Smiley (1200), Kevin Garrick (400), Trevor Furhiman (800) and Amis Matulionis (1600) set the pace today.

Mustangs out strong against Amador Valley in the first EBAL dual meet of the season. Girls Varsity rolls to a convincing 82 to 54 victory. Event winners for the Mustangs include:

And we're off! SRV Super Scrimmage kicks off the 2010 season
Results from the SRV Super Scrimmage held Saturday, Feb 27th against San Ramon Valley High School, Miramonte High School and your Monte Vista Mustangs.
Many amazing performances for an early season practice meet.
Results are in the Excel file attached below (updated 3/3/10 with some additions and corrections). Since some athletes did not notate which school they competed for, there are some results here for non-MV athletes. Also, some of you wrote in pencil or faint pen, and your name did not transfer to the photo copies. But... here are results for MOST of you!
Next up - the East Bay Invite on Saturday March 6th - cohosted by Monte Vista, also held at SRVHS.

Pay attention to the type of meets, in terms of attendance. If an event says "Team" or "Traveling Team", then all members in good standing are eligible and expected to be at those events. Also note SAT and ACT test dates and plan accordingly.
