For EBAL dual meets, and for Invitationals that do not feature special relays, the following is the standard order of events.  For EBAL dual meets, F/S and Varsity may be combined, based on the numbers of entrants per event.  This decision is at the discretion of the starter or meet manager.  Boys and Girls events are not combined, with the exception of the 3200 meter race at some EBAL races.  There is not a separate Junior Varsity division for EBAL dual meets.

EBAL Dual meets start at 4pm and can last until 8pm.

Hurdler Kaeli Hancock - Contra Costa Times "Athlete of the Week"

School record breaker Kaeli Hancock was selected as the Contra Costa Times "Athlete of the Week" for her recent accomplishments on the oval.  She recently smashed her own record in the 300 Hurdles at the Arcadia Invitational, running a stellar 46.07 time.

Against Cal HS last week, Kaile particiated in four tough events in an effort to help the girls team try to overcome Cal.  She took first in the 100 Hurdles, first in the 400 meters (right after the hurdles), first in the 300 Hurdles, and anchored the 4X400 relay (who just mised first place).   An outstanding effort indeed!

Track-Mar-25-014.jpg picture by mvdavis
4/22/10:  Sr Will Ratcliff, a four year Track veteran, was seriously injured while warming up for the Granada meet.  Will suffered a compound fracture in his ankle and is out for the season.   He was quickly establishing himself as one of the top throwers in the EBAL.

After successful surgery, Will is recovering and back at Monte Vista.  In fact - he was on the sidelines taking photos and cheering on the team to victory today against Livermore!  Will reports that he expects a full recovery and can participate in sports in the future!  He was quickly establishing himself as one of the top throwers in the EBAL.

We wish you a speedy and full recovery Will!

San Ramon Valley HS - Super Scrimmage Practice Meet

On Saturday, Feb 27th, Monte Vista Track and Field will travel to SRVHS to attend the annual Super Scrimmage with the SRV and Miramonte high schools.  There are no buses for this meet.  The first event is at 9am.  You will be told at practice what time to be there.

All returning athletes should wear last years T&F uniform.  If you are new to the Track team, you need to wear a pair of black shorts, and a white t-shirt (something that says Monte Vista on it would be great, although a plain white t-shirt would be fine).  Cross Country runners can wear their XC uniforms if they want.

Attached is the schedule of events.  Check with your event coach for your individual assignments!

Mustangs reach deep, help raise funds for Sgt Roman's family

From Coach Sharon Kovar:

At the weekly Forward Motion Wednesday night run on April 1, the owner, Marty Breen, invited the community to come and run in support of one of the Oakland Police Officers killed, who has children attending San Ramon Valley High School. Marty asked that for every mile you ran during this evening run, you would donate a dollar to the Sgt Irvin Romans Children's Family Trust.

Due to the pasta feed already scheduled for Wednesday night to get Monte Vista Track and Field Team members ready for the Dual Meet against Cal High on Thursday, the team was unable to attend the Forward Motion Run. Instead, the coaches announced that we would do our own fundraiser during Wednesday's practice and asked the team to bring a donation. The fundraiser was a HUGE success!

Monte Vista Coaches Mike Davis and Sharon Kovar collected the money, and both attended the Wednesday night run, and presented to the Trust a donation of $1225.00 on behalf of the Monte Vista Track and Field Team - the largest donation made by a group.

Sgt Irvin's wife, Nikki, gave a heartfelt speech and thanked everyone for their generous contributions. Then the commanding Officer led the hundreds of runners in attendance from the community along the Iron Horse Trail. Police officers from several different cities and counties stopped traffic for the runners...a truly touching event!

A special thanks to ALL of you that made a donation and participated in event!

Footnote:  Several parents have dropped by FMS since the event to add to Monte Vista's donation, bringing the total to over $1500.  Great show of support team!
