SHOES!

If you have been training all summer you need to work on getting a new pair of running shoes for the season. Ideally, you should get three pairs of shoes a year:  for track, xc, and summer.

You will also be required to have a pair of racing shoes and/or racing spikes for the season. If you had some last year you should be fine. A racing shoe is lightweight and really makes a big difference during races. 1st Place Sports is the best place to go as they know what runners need and offer a 10% discount to high school runners.  Their link can be found on our links page. You can also check close out sales on such sites at www.eastbay.com and www.firsttothefinish.com

Ridgeview Review

On a course with varied (and at times confusing) terrain, the Lady Mustangs continued to prove they are a team to beat in the Conference and District. The Varsity team relied on its depth and yielded a powerful 1-2 punch of Shea Rigg and Rachel Rowland (finishing 9 and 13 respectively). Alyssa Harrison also proved she is ready to take on a varsity spot finishing as our 5th runner and running a P.R. of 22:44. The Varsity team placed 5th overall out of 22 teams.

Our team JV team continues to display the strength of the program for years to come finishing 4th place overall (behind Bishop Kenny, Episcopal, and Mandarin Christian's Varsity team). The team was led by Katie Hargrove (31st place), Emily Manning  (34th), and Jordanna Bergman (35th).

Two other girls ran a personal best this race: Brittney Hardage (28:45) and Sangha Park (29:34).

Conference Champs!
GATEWAY CONFERENCE CHAMPS!

What a morning for the Lady Mustangs! Loaded with exciting events it’s hard to know where to begin!

SHEA IS #1!  One of the main events of the day was the duel between Senior Shea Rigg and Fletcher’s Megan Bary. In a race that was run shoulder to shoulder from the start, Shea’s courageous move with just over 400m to go not only secured a 1st place finish (20:27) but the title of Gateway Conference Champion. Way to go Shea! We are all very proud of you.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS! The team competition seemed close after the first mile but it soon became clear that the Mustangs’ depth was too much for the Senators. All seven Mustangs finished ahead of Fletcher’s 5th. Special acknowledgement to Freshman Madeline Brink (4th) and Rachel Rowland (6th) for garnering All-Conference honors. The Varsity team was rounded out by Anna Lewis (13th), Elise Parson (15th), Alyssa Harrison (16th) and Audra Crandell (18th).

JV ROCKS!!! Junior Anna Stallard (1st) led the JV race from start to finish making it look all too easy finishing ahead of nearly half the boys on the course. Freshman Megan Bishop and Sophomore Katie Hargrove finished 2nd and 3rd respectively leading the ‘Stangs to a dominating victory. Rounding out the JV top 5 were Senior Emily Manning (5th) and Junior Jordanna Bergman (6th). Great job girls!!!

Congratulations to ALL Lady Mustangs and a HUGE thank you to all parents and volunteers!!!

Middleburg Classic

JV finishes 2nd, Varsity 4th at Middleburg Classic!

Pack Mentality Prevails

Varsity makes a statement!!!

In spite of our lead runner sounding a little like Mickey Mouse (sorry Shea!) and resting#2 Anna Lewis, the Varsity Mustangs showed resilience and determination sealing a 4th place finish out of 22 scoring teams. The team was led by a solid trio of Shea Rigg, Rachel Rowland, and Madeline Brink. Additional congrats to Anna Stallard, Alyssa Harrison, and Audra Crandell for lowering their personal bests and further closing the Varsity gap. Districts here we come!!!

17th-  Shea Rigg 20:32   21st- Rachel Rowland 20:43   24th- Madeline Brink 20:46   40th- Elise Parson 21:52   44th- Anna Stallard 22:04*  45th- Alyssa Harrison 22:05*  53rd- Audra Crandell  22:29*

Close JV race comes down to 6th runner!!!

In a race that yielded 13 personal bests, the JV team took Mustang Pride to a new level! From Brittney Hardage dropping 3 minutes off her time to our top 5 average besting most varsity teams, these young ladies have a right to be very proud.

To add even more excitement to the morning, after scoring the Mustangs were tied with Ridgeview with 83 points. However, our depth proved too much for the opposition and Amber Miller’s displaced 22nd place finish beat out Ridgeview’s 51st. This gave the ‘Stangs a solid 2nd place out of 11 scoring teams behind Bishop Kenny.   Congratulations to the following JV runners on a most impressive meet!

(* denotes PR) 12th- Katie Hargrove- 23:06*   15th- Emily Manning- 23:11*  22nd- Jordanna Bergman- 23:31   33rd- Angeline Almestica- 23:56   36th- Madison Butler- 24:04*   38th- Amber Miller- 24:07*   40th- Hannah Corley- 24:13*   46th- Emily Birmingham- 24:37*   52nd- Chelsea Stanch- 25:00*   63rd- Brittney Hardage- 25:36*   80th- Sangha Park- 26:13*   92nd- Betsy McClellan- 26:58*   108th- Christina Hassert- 28:22*   119th- Rose Wilder- 29:54

Regional Qualifiers!

Lady Mustangs Advance to Regional Meet!

Competing in the "District of Death" did not intimidate the tenacious Lady Mustangs who, sans sophomore stud Anna Lewis, rose to the challenge and placed 6th out of 18 teams (and only 10 places behind the 2 teams tied for 4th). The team was once again lead by Senior standout Shea Rigg who clocked a career best 19:57 and finished 12 overall. Senior Rachel Rowland also ran a stellar race dropping her best time by nearly 20 seconds running a 20:24 and finishing 20th. Six of the seven varsity runners ran personal bests...great team effort ladies!!!

Other notable finishes:

Madeline Brink- 34th- 21:09

Elise Parson- 41st- 21:33

Alyssa Harrison- 47th- 21:45

Anna Stallard- 59th- 22:08
