2008 Bucs Baseball

The Bucs were formed in 2003 by coaches Mitch Grogan and Junior Holland.  The 12u Bucs enter their final season together with high expectations, as usual.  In four full seasons, the Bucs have compiled a 133-61 record with 14 tournament titles and nine runner-up finishes.  Highlights include at one time being ranked #1 in the nation according to the USSSA 10u Power Ratings (top 5 in points), winning back-to-back USSSA AA Open titles in Southaven, MS, an 18-game winning streak in 2006 which produced four consecutive tournament titles, and finishing 5th overall (with a 7-2 record) at the 10u USSSA AA World Series in Tulsa, OK.
The Bucs expanded to include teams in three age divisions prior to the 2007 season.  Currently, the 12u Bucs are coached by former Murray State pitcher Mitch Grogan and former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Anthony Shumaker.  The 11u Bucs are coached by former Murray State infielder/catcher Dave Winder, former Belmont catcher Dave Henry (who also played in the Chicago White Sox organization), and Monty Rogers.  The 9u Bucs are coached by Tony Brannon, David Jaco, and Craig Johnson.
Our basic philosophy has always been to play the game the way it was meant to be played.  We emphasize teaching the fundamentals of baseball with patience and an understanding that we are teaching kids.  However, we do have high expectations for the kids to compete at their highest level and to follow team rules at all times.  We will continue to build on our reputation by competing on the field and conducting ourselves on and off the field as a group that our teammates, parents, and communities will be proud of.
If you would like additional information about Bucs Baseball, please contact Coach Grogan at 270-435-4644 or by email at mkgrogan@wk.net.

Ballplayers Prayer
A Ball Players Prayer

God, grant me wisdom, to tell a strike from a ball, to know where to throw, and never to fail.
Keep me always in the base line, running straight and true, and I’ll look for your sign, to stretch one into two.
God, give me vision, to see every pitch, so if a player needs help, then I will see which.
Let me always hustle, so I’ll be at my best, and take pride in myself, in sports and the rest.
God, be my strength, when I throw the ball, when I’m far from home plate, or against a wall.
So I never miss base, please guide my feet, bring me home safely, so my job is complete.
When I help younger players, let me always give praise, so they’ll see you in me, in all of my ways.
God, please guide our coach, to be fair and smart, to teach us to be good, let it come from their hearts.
Let me take a loss, just as well as a win, to do any less, is surely a sin.
As long as I pray, let me make my parents proud, as proud as I am, when they yell my name out loud.
However my games end, let me always have fun, and if Heaven has all-stars, I want to be one.
When my games here are over, and my seasons are done, let me play on your team, just like your son.
AMEN
