By Mike Fields
HERALD-LEADER STAFF WRITER
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association today made it official: football will expand from four to six classes for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
The KHSAA Board of Control put together the realignment proposal at its July meeting, then let its member schools react to the changes.
After some minor tweaking, including allowing six schools to play up in class, the Board gave its final approval today.
The six schools that will play up: Covington Catholic will go from 4A to 5A; Highlands from 3A to 5A; McLean County from 2A to 3A; Russellville from 1A to 3A; Madisonville from 5A to 6A, and Somerset from 2A to 3A.
Bryan Station did not ask to move up from 5A, so it will play in a different class than Lexingtons other public schools (Henry Clay, Lafayette, Paul Dunbar and Tates Creek). Full Story
New Class 3A Region 1 listed below.
District 1 -- McLean Co., Muhlenberg South, Paducah Tilghman, Union Co., Webster Co.

"Theres always been talk about going with the black on black home jersey around here, and even the black helmet they used in 2003. We finally decided to go with the look and set it as a tradition.
