11 Y.O. All-Stars 1 of 6 Left for Championship
The Mountain View 11's meet Los Altos on Friday, 7/10, at Los Altos' Purissima Fields, 5:30 PM. MV played Los Altos in the first round of the tournament and lost by only 1 run. Since that first round MV has had victories over Sunnyvale Metro (10-5) and Cupertino National (4-1). Los Altos saw their first loss at the hands of Moreland (2-10). Moreland has survived the winner's backet and is seated for the 11 Y.O. Championship Game (7/14, 5:30 PM at SC Briarwood). Mountain View's second meeting with Los Altos is a game not to be missed. Fall Ball to be Announced
Details of the 2009 Fall Ball program will be coming soon. Our Fall program develops baseball skills while giving players a fun and supportive place to play. The program is instructional and informal. The focus is on building skills and not on winning games. Games are played in Mountain View and nearby communities. The games are on Sundays, with one or two practices during the week. This program is aimed at players, ages 8 to 11 (player's age on May 1, 2009), who played in the Minors or Majors divisions this year or will be entering Minors next year. Thursday, June 25

Buying a Bat? 2009 Rules in Effect
For Majors Divisions and below -- All non-wood bats must be imprinted with a BPF number of 1.15 or less. Most non-wood bats manufactured over the past several years for the age groups involved in Little League Baseball (Majors) and below have been permanently imprinted with the BPF. In fact, very few bats sold today with a diameter of 2-1/4 (two and one-quarter) inches are not printed with the BPF rating. So, starting with the 2009 season, bats printed with a BPF higher than 1.15, or without a BPF printed (or not legible) on the bat, are not permitted in these divisions. 2009 Pitch Count Regulation Guide
If a player pitches 61 or more pitches in a day, 3 calendar days of rest, and a game, must be observed. If a player pitches 41 to 60 pitches in a day, 2 calendar days of rest, and a game, must be observed. If a player pitches 21 to 40 pitches in a day, 1 calendar days of rest must be observed. If a player pitches 1 to 20 pitches in a day, no calendar days of rest must be observed. The manager must remove the pitcher when the player's limit is reached: 17 to 18 years old, 105 pitches per day, 13 to 16 years old, 95 pitches per day, 11 to 12 years old, 85 pitches per day, 9 to 10 years old, 75 pitches per day, or 7 to 8 years old, 50 pitches per day Players once removed from the mound may not return as pitchers. (Junior, Senior, and Big League Divisions only: A pitcher remaining in the game, but moving to a different position, can return as a pitcher anytime in the remainder of the game, but only once per game.) If a pitcher reaches the pitching limit for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until any one of the following conditions occurs: 1. That batter reaches base; 2. That batter is put out; 3. The third out is made to complete the half-inning. NOTE: A pitcher who delivers one or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day. A player may not pitch in consecutive games. Exception League Age 16 and under - A player may pitch in consecutive games if 40 or less pitches were delivered in the previous game. League Age 17-18 - A player may pitch in consecutive games if 50 or less pitches were delivered in the previous game. Note: The consecutive game can occur during the pitcher's day(s) of rest. (Example: Pitcher A, age 12, ends with 45 pitches on Monday's game. Pitcher A plays short stop at Wednesday's game. Pitcher A is eligible to pitch at the team's Saturday game. The 2 days of rest were Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday was also the consecutive game. Since the days of rest and game of rest regulations were both met, Pitcher A is qualified to pitch at Saturday's game.) MVLL has chosen the first option which is unchanged from 2008.
