STEELERS BEAT HUSTLERS 58-6
The Steelers set a team scoring record with a 58-6 win over the outnumbered NYC Hustlers. The Steelers opened the scoring on the first series with a 55 yard TD run by Rich Fazio. In the second quarter, Jorge Mijares caught a 6 yard TD pass from Deshon Russ. Fazio then scored a 29 yard run. Just before halftime, Mike Coleman caught a 45 yard TD pass from D. Russ, to make the halftime score 24-6. The Steelers opened the second half with a record 99 1/2 TD pass from Jorge Mijares to Jeff Deloatch. QB Ainsworth Minott ran 6 yard for a score late in the quarter. Sanjay Singh caught the two point conversion. In the fourth quarter, Charles Williams. playing his final game, recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD. Safety Nate Murray returned a fumble 45 yards for a TD and Bob Williams returned an interception 55 yards for the final TD. A.J. Lowe ran the two point conversion. The Hustlers only score came in the second quarter on a 65 yard drive that featured five straight penalties against the Steelers and two 1 yard runs at the goal line for the score.
Defensively, the Steelers, led by Ortari Blount, Rob Carr, Ainsworth Minott and Charles Williams, stymied the Hustlers all day. Except for the penalties, the Hustlers managed four first downs, all on the ground. Their QB's were harassed and chased throughout the game. The lone pass completion was a 35 yard pass to the Steelers 3 yard line on the final play of the game.
