The Steelers beat the NYC Falcons 6-0 in a hard fought playoff battle in the rain. The Steelers scored the only TD on a 65 yard drive culminated by 35 yard pass from QB Brian Novell to WR Frank paljusaj and then a 5 yard pass to TE Jorge Mijares. The Steelers' offense held the ball a major part of the game, but was unable to sustain another long scoring drive in the pouring rain. Jeff Deloatch had 4 catches and Paljusaj had 3. Rich Fazio, Anthony Rice, Donnie Smith and Rashad Lee led the rushing attack
Defensively, the Steelers limited the Falcons to four first downs and less than 100 yards totall offense. Kevin Thompson, Charles Williams, returning early from surgery and Ainsowrth Minott had interceptions. Minott, Rob Carr and Syheem Farrar had sacks, while Ortari Blount had a fumble recovery. The DB's, led by nate Murray, Terrell Holdipp, Anthony Glover and Thompson, held the Falcons to four completions the entire game.
The Steelers play the Brooklyn Bulldawgs this SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8 at 2:00 at Gorton H.S. in the first round of the Gridiron Classic Tournament and will continue the following weekend against the NYS Demon Knights. Location to be announced.
It's with great sadness that the Steelers announce the passing on of origianal Steelers DT Darrin Sloan, #54, due to a heart attack at the age of 35. Darrin joined the team at its first practice ever and played five years. He was immovable force on the d-line and anchored the 1998 team that went 8-2. He was always a respectful player who gave all he had. Later on, he returned to playing and finished his career with the Mt. Vernon Wolverines. Darrin leaves behind two young daughters and family and friends who will miss him. Say a prayer for Darrin and his family. Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they are received.
