Well said George.
I've never said anything like this before, but it's obvious that after seeing the Steelers with MOST of the team last week, even in a monsoon, you guys are a threat. Everyone around N.Y. was waitin to see the Bandits and the Rebels in the championship game. No body was prepared for the Steelers to steal it from. They also assumed the Seminoles would lose. So. a game was scheduled at a time when they new we wouldnt' be at full strength. Now, let's see if anyone in Queens is man enough to say, "no we don't want a cheap win, we want to earn our wins"
We'll still play in the tournament, no matter the outcome of this debacle is. |

Gentlemen,
We have all been working hard since january. I refuse to be the sacrificial lamb for this league again. The Steelers have no friend's in this League - NEVER THINK OTHERWISE, WE ARE ON OUR OWN. They all thought Coach Ken was going to roll over and they thought they could make him do what ever was more convenient for them. NO MORE. We have all been on the phone numerous times this week trying to figure something out. There is no compromise. They want you to play on halloween when you have 20 players with one coach available on no notice becasue it works for them regardless of what they scheduled themselves previously. That is not Team football. We never dressed only 20 players in big game ever - min 35-40. The league played with our schedule multiple times this year. Don't even get me started on game 9 and faux game 10.
Bottom Line, if the league wants legitimacy, don't screw a charter member of the League, play the game as scheduled. Ofcourse the League can look for the easy way out and give the rebels a forfeit win on halloween or find a replacement team.
I will not be a part of this. We have worked too hard as a team to be treated like this. We were prepared for this game and we had a game plan worked out that was very special.
Last thing, we are seeded. We earned our way in the second round of the playoffs and we are very very dangerous. We are excited to to have the opportunity to play against the rebels again.
League: do the right thing and make it happen the way you said it was, no more BS. |

This is whats going on in the League if u didn't get the E-mail! If this is all correct, I feel that teams r scared to play us after seeing what happen last weekend! They trying to force us to quit becuz they know we can win it all! I ask for everyone & I say everyone, express u'r opinions & feeling to the comissioner, owner of the league & here on the messager borad! This F*cked up & straight wrong! To the teams, don't be scared man up & play ball!
To all Steelers players and personnel,
This week's playoff game is in serious jeopardy and may not be played. As you know, the league scheduled the second round game for Sunday at 5:00 PM at Evander. I was told repeatedly by commissioner Chamblisss, as late a sMonday night, that there were no games scheduled for Saturday night, Halloween night. Many of you told me you had theings to do with your children or your families and several were working Saturday and/or Saturday and would not be avavilable. We relied on the league representation and prepared for Sunday.
Tuesday morning, I received a call from a representavie of another league, letting me know that we were not playing on Sunday, but on Saturday night. It seems that the N.Y. Spartans were originally scheduled to play on Sunday and were moved to Saturday last weekend to accommodate the playoffs. Their opposing team was not informed directly, but thru their former owner who didn't inform them until Monday. That team could not play on Saturday on short notice so the owner of the Spartans, who also owns the Bandits, moved them back to Evander on Sunday at 1:30.
The Bandits will play the Seminoles at 4:00 PM. Coach Green of the Rebels then obtained Roy Wilkins park for Saturday at 8:00 PM. Evander is not available as there is a JV game there in the morning. I was first told Tuesday night that there was a possibility of having the game rescheduled to Satrudan night and even after discussing it with the commissioner, he told the Rebels to confirm that day and time. I received an e-mail about 8:30 last night confirming that last minute change.
From the beginnning, I repeated that Saturday was not viable for us. Last week, I reminded everyone that Saturday was Halloween and many players had things to do with their families and their children and it was agreed there would be no Halloween game. If we fielded a team for a second round playoff game on Saturday, it would consist of less than half of our players and the only coach available would be Coach O'Connor. Both quarterbacks would be missing also. While I have great respect for each of you and your abilities, it would be difficult at best and dangerous to the safety of some of the players.
I learned yesterday that when the neutral site was proposed, Coach Green did have a permit for Sunday, but gave it up. I also managed to secure Gorton H.S. in Yonkers for Sunday as an emergency measure, but Coach Green declined to come to Yonkers since it is a Rebels' home game. I offered Gorton to the Spartans, with the approval of their league commissioner, but was turned down, since they did not want to lose their home game either.
In my opinion, whether it was as a favor or any other reason, once the field was committed to the league, the Bandits or the Spartans or both, did not have the right to take it back, since all of the teams relied on the representation that the first two rounds would be played at Evander and that the second round would be on Sunday.
It's been suggested to me by several people within the Steelers, that everyone just wants to see the Rebels and the Bandits play for the championship and everyone was shocked when we shutout the Falcons so convincingly. Apparently, now that we finally have our entire team, no one really wants to face us.
I did speak to the league owner and president late last evening and he did agree with me that to change the day of a playoff game on three days notice is improper and against league policy. He promised to talk to commissioner Chambliss and get back to me. They did speak but I never got a call back.
I was told today by the commissioner that Tilden H.S. was available on Sunday, but we had to work it out with the Rebels. he wou;dn't make the decision to move the game there on Sunday. After Coach Tim and I each spoke with Coach Green of the Rebels at length, he informed me he would not consent to move the game to Tilden and the would be at Roy Wilkins park with 50 players and would take video of us not there. That means nothing. We still won't be there. He attempted to make a big deal that we owe the league money should have been kicked out of the playoffs. Obviously, he knows if we come with a full squad, they would probably lose.
I know all of you spent a lot of time and worked very hard since January, but I can't and I won't put an under-manned group at risk of injury, especially since most of our linemen can't come on Saturday and more than half of the team would be missing or late. We saw against the Bandits what can happen if people have to play both ways and play unfamiliar positions. If the game date is not changed, then we will not play in the EFA again and move on to another league. It breaks my hear that we are in a position to win and we did everything the right way and now a few people with egos bigger than their brains are trying to take it away from you. I won't forget that, but payback will come.
There is a post-season tournament beginning in two weeks. All games will be played in the Bronx. Please let me know if you want to play in that, whether or not this game goes on.
This won't end the Steelers. We intend to play spring ball next March and April and have commitments from many players who want to play with us and more than twenty new players have already registed online for next season. I'll contact each of you as soon as I have a final outcome.
I also spent a lot time and worked very hard this past winter and spring, as did all of the coaches, helping keep this league afloat trying to rebuild the image. This is a slap in the face to all the Steelers who worked so hard for so many months and years. We will withdraw from the league effective immediately unless the schedule is restored.
If anyone wants to reach Commissioner Chambliss to express your displeasure, his number is (347) 737-0903, but be prepared to get a different version of the real facts. Be sure to call between 8-10 AM and 7-10 PM since he works nights and sleeps during the day.
League President Steve Ellis, who hasn't really been active this year, can still be reached from midnight to 1:00 AM at (917) 359-7003.

GREAT GAME STEELERS,
I am so impressed by all of you and so proud of what you are accomplishing. You held together as at team and supported each other. We all saw that when all the pieces of the puzzle are there, nobody can stop us. All three parts did their jobs. Celebtrate tonight and tomorrow, but be ready for the next game week. Next SUNDAY, we face the Rebels at 5:00 PM, once again at Evander Childs H.S. We are the seocnd game of a double header. Please be there early to get ready. As you know, the Rebels are undefeated this year and are the only team we've never beaten. If we can take that step Sunday, the following week is for the championship. Once again, take one game at a time. Then be ready for the next step.

IT'S TIME GENTLEMEN,
SATURDAY, 5:00 PM AGAINST THE FALCONS. WE'LL HAVE MOST OF OUR MISSING PLAYERS BACK, BUT A FEW WILL STILL MISS DUE TO WORK OR OTHER SATURDAY COMMITMENTS. WE'LL STILL TAKE IT TO THEM WITH WHO WE HAVE. NOW WE HAVE TO RAISE THE INTENSITY LEVEL AND KEEP COMING AT THEM EVERY PLAY UNTIL THEY SURRENDER. OWN THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL AND YOU WIN THE GAME. ON ONE EXPECTS MUCH FROM THE STEELERS EXCEPT ME. I KNOW HOW GOOD YOU ARE AND HOW GOOD YOU CAN BE WHEN YOU ALL ALL THERE AND ALL PLAY TEAM FOOTBALL FROM START TO FINISH. AS LONG AS WE ALL STAY TOGETHER, KEEP OUR HEADS IN THE GAME AND DON'T LOSE FOCUS, WE WILL SHOCK EVERYONE EXCEPT OURSELVES. THIS WEEK, MORE THAN ANY OTHER TIME, REMEMBER TO DO
WHATEVER IT TAKES with NO EXCUSES |
